No manager in his right mind would bother with all the hassle. Maybe a move to Blackburn could be on the cards?

Hahaha.
Fuck you FIFA! Royal family get involved in the poppy arguement and FIFA back down and allow the poppy to be worn on a black armband.

They really should know how stubborn we can be :D

You do realise they're not backing down though?

They said we couldn't wear it on the shirts. We still can't. That's not backing down, it's something called a compromise.

Yes, it's simply a loophole they are overlooking.

FIFA are right in this to be fair, it should be one rule for all. Nice of them to turn a blind eye.

It's such a big fuss over nothing. Did anyone kick up this much of a fuss and bitch about it a couple of years ago, when we played another match around this time of year? No poppies then, not even a mention of it. Just seems to be flavour of the week, only the flavour is flavourless frozen yogurt.

Best idea would be donate the proceeds of the match to charity and not a poppy.

Yes, but that would cost the FA money, all they care about is money and a happy public PR face.

I think Arsenal made £30+k for charity auctioning the poppy shirts last year so there is money to be made for charity there. Not saying that's why they wanted them though. Players donating their days wages to Help the Heroes would be a good gesture.

Alot of players actually donate from every single wage package they receive to charity. UNICEF gets a fair whack in this manner I believe. Just it would be good publicity and that doesnt sell papers so it not mentioned much

The reasoning behind it is sound, don't for a minute believe another owner would not do the same.

In a statement, Llambias explained: "Our aim for Newcastle United is to continue to deliver success for the fans and everyone associated with the club. We must make this club financially self-sufficient in order to deliver that success.
"To grow sustainably and allow us to invest in our future, we will need to rely increasingly heavily on commercial income.
"These are very difficult economic times and the board have a responsibility to maximise all revenue streams for the benefit of the club."

In fairness Kean is doing an awesome job of trolling the Venky's if he's convinced them he'll have regular european football and got a new deal on the clubs recent run of form :D

They reckon itll bring in about £10 million, or one player (in their words), still think its a bad idea, St James' Park is, well, St James' Park

And it still will be to the fans, if some faceless organisation wants to pay shitloads of money let them. I wouldn't put much store in Ashley's promise to invest it in players though, he said the same about the Carroll fee...

The Newcastle fans just need to chill the fuck out. They all moaned at the Carroll money along with Nolan, Barton, Enrique going. And while they haven't played anyone in the league yet (next 3 games will be huge) they are unbeaten in the league, they have the best defensive record and the signings they have brought in are all pulling in the right direction. While 8-10 million a year does not buy you a world class player, it's an extra chunk of cash that they can invest in their youth policy/scouting network (where alot of the Carroll fee went)

While the Sports direct arena name isn't ideal at the moment, someone will come in when the club are flying high, hence this is the best time to go looking for a investor.

They are trynig to get the club to be self sustaining and with the fan base that Newcastle have, it will certainly put them at the top of a pile just behind the big players. They gave the fans a chance to freeze their season ticket prices for 3 years and then extended that for a further 10 years. I bet there is fans at Utd/City/Arsenal/Chelsea that wish they could have froze theirs for a year let alone 13. They only just sold of the remaining unsold season tickets for £100 for an adult £50 quid for a child. The guy knows how to run a business and in football now more than ever that is very important.

If Newcastle get 6 points from those 3 games they will more than likely finish top 5 I reckon.

They are doing that because of some damn good scouting Calean and some bargain hunting thats for sure. The price they paid for raiding France and Holland has been quality, that and players that you wouldn't expect to come good have come good (Best for starters). I'd say it's a smart business move not to blow all the money.. but and I say but, alot more of the money should have been invested I think as something the ACON will throw them sideways losing Ba and Tiote.

The scouting network has been there since before that (hence the purchases of Ben Arfa and Tiote before Carroll's money came in). Interesting fact is that the head scout is the comedian of TV (Alan Carr)'s dad.

To me, Newcastle are paying fortune for faith in players like Jonas, Collicini, Best, Ba.. good youth policy with Krul, Taylor.. spose you could include Ameobi, and some brilliant scouting work with the likes of Marveaux, Cabaye (especially this lad), Tiote, Santon, Ben Arfa etc etc.
