17 straight home wins, 5 points clear at the top. Its hard to not be pessimistic as a Saints fan after the last few years weve had, but its all looking very rosy at the minute.

Yeah, they've come out of nowhere. Dougie Freedman is doing a great job, he's put a nice little squad together. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the top 6 come the end of the season.

Championship is all about form, you can build a nice squad down there on a shoestring and once the winning mentality sets in you are set for promotion or at least a tussle in the play-offs.

Hull, Blackpool, Luton, Norwich, Us (winning year and play off defeat), Watford etc etc. It's what made the CCC so fun, you never knew what kind of season you were going to have. I still rate the season where we a certainty for relegation but ended up finishing 5th as the best I've ever witnessed.

And as for Palace, cracking team even though Selhurst Park is a pretty shit away day tbh, Zaha won't be sold I dont think, most the clubs at CCC level are running on a shoestring (god bless the Prem eh lads?), but if a promotion chase is still on around Jan then sales will not happen.

I want to Luton back up at this level so badly, Kenilworth Rd is insane, walking through the away end you see pretty much into all the neighbours windows/gardens and then boom, your in the terraces.

Worst was that we actually were the better team hah, such a surreal day.. looking back though our team then was fucking horrible, full of scraps from our reserves, or any old codger we could get on a free or loan from a lower league club. Not one player even remains (Kightly I guess?) from that first XI, and even the match day squad only Craddock is still about.

With the exception of the keeper, Bialkowski, none of our lineup that day have played for us for years! A couple (Leon Best, Nathan Dyer) are now playing regular premier league football, Surman is at a PL team (i'd love him back so much), one is manager of Charlton, and the rest.... god knows.

Surman was shit for us, but then Mick has a habit of destroying players who seemed to have bags of potential. Where is Freddy Eastwood these days? Though its great to see McIndoe rotting in the lower echleons.. horrible bitter little cunt who didn't like competition.
