Enjoying the FM2012 demo but either it's too easy or the Rochdale chairman slipped the devs a tenner. First game on the demo, was top of League 1 and unbeaten when it ran out.

Or maybe i'm just *that* good! :)

What is so wrong with steam? It works perfectly, and once you've got the product you can just it in offline mode.

Not sure what version you've tried, but I only ever had a problem when they made the interface more flashy, and even then only for a couple of revisions after that. Meh.

Steam doesn't stop piracy, but it is very good at preventing pre-release and day-0 piracy. Which is something that has massively affected us in the past.

But yeah, pirate our game and be a prick, why not?

Is there anything new to it to make it worth buying? Or is it just a DB update?

All Copenhagen fans have been banned from travelling with the team because of trouble. I fucking hate the administration in my club

No more away games this season it seems :(

i can't be fucked with it, i'm not installing steam, probably end up pirating it

It's pretty funny how they only sell via Steam to avoid piracy and the full game is already available via piracy

i agree, steam is a cunt. and yes, there is a version on TPB already!

Steam is fantastic, I buy most of my games on there. However if all there is to the new FM is a DB update and a menu polish then I don't really see the point. If it fixes a lot of the annoyances of the last version then I might invest!

What did you find annoying? I thought the demo was pretty good.

Steam is a pain in the ass tbh. I had to install it on the laptop just to play the demo, and it clashes with various things thus slows the laptop right down. It is a complete bitch.
Would not surprise me if you getting a cut of the pie by using steam, and that is why you select them as your "anti piracy"... but every worthwhile game is cracked within 24hrs no matter what protection you put on it.

It is actually getting as bad as DVDs... a non-skippable "anti piracy" advert that pisses you off, when those that actually pirate the film do not have to put up with it.

Companies can do what they want, but they must also realise that there actions may stop previous buyers from actually buying the product simply because they dont agree with what some deem a stupid strategy. Right or wrong, if they wanted the game, but didnt want the unwanted "spamware" then they may well end up taking the only option to avoid it.

I'm not Steam's biggest fan either, I don't like it. I think it's bloated, bugged and a pain in the arse as a user.

As someone who makes games we have to protect ourselves somehow. The piracy rates pre-release are staggering, and that's the worst time for it. Yes things are cracked within 24 hours but that will hopefully mean more day 1 purchases as people haven't been playing it free for a week or two.

The last version, as in FM 2011. stupidly easy to win even as shit teams. All I want from a football management game is a relegation battle, never going to happen with FM unless you go out of your way to hobble your own common sense. It's not exactly realistic.

Understandable, I myself wont be buying it till nearer xmas in all likelyhood... or rather I wait till the wife buys it for me so she is to blame for my time taken playing it. lol....
Shame, that if your focus was stopping pre-release, that you wont release a non-steam version of it in a month or two.... even when i have purchased the game, there is a chance that I will use a crack on it just so I do not have to keep steam on my laptop. Even though laptop is "legal only" zone in general, i just dont think i can persist with having steam on it. Hate steam so much I only got 2 games that use it (modern warfares), and that does not get used on my laptop, hence the annoyance of the insistance on steam usage.

edit;
As for FM2012 difficulty, unless they made the demo "easy mode", then the game will be a walk in the park. My 4-2-2-2 formation in the demo smashed everything (i was man utd, but i didnt drop a point at all), then I done a 4-2-3-1 and every player I used was under the age of 26. Didnt lose a game, though I did get a few draws. But was even using 16yr olds in that squad. lol

I really don't understand the steam hate.

You buy your game, which literally takes 20 seconds, give or take.
You download your game
You play your game

In the meantime, steam does the following
Keeps your games up to date
Presents you with a nice list of your games to choose from, in one nice easy place. No fucking around with disk drives or CD keys, want to play something, double click and away you go.

Sure you may save a fiver here or there buying from somewhere else but who the fuck wants to mingle with the troglodytes in Game these days? Who wants to play the postal service lottery?

Personally I am more than happy with steam.

If a game is not available on steam then I don't bother with it, with the exception of MMOs.

Of course playing as Man Utd will be quite easy. Choosing Man Utd is like selecting Easy mode.

Try Plymouth or something similar if you want a challenge.

I'm with Raven on this one, Steam seems a pretty easy way to buy and keep games up to date, never had a problem with it

Sure it would be easy mode... but should a team that consists of just a few first team regulars be able to walk the premierleague?
17wins, 2 draws, just 10 goals conceeded.

De Gea - 20yrs old

Fabio - 20 yrs old
Evans - 23 yrs old
Jones - 19 yrs old
Rafael - 20 yrs old

Pogba - 18 yrs old
Cleverley -21 yrs old

Januzaj - 16 yrs old
Rooney - 25 yrs old
Morrison - 18 yrs old

Hernandez - 23 yrs old
.....

That was the main team I tried to play, of course injuries messed that up and some the more established <26 yr olds got games (nani etc), but I would not expect these players to utterly dominate the league.
If they could win at this stage, it means in 2-3yrs when they are established they would completely dominate everything for years to come. I would not expect such a young team to keep cleansheets against Man City and Liverpool in the early stages. Let alone win 10-1 vs QPR (Nani/Anderson played also though due to injuries) in the first league game of the season.

Maybe it is just me, but the game should not just go "This is Man Utd, let them win" when using so many inexperienced players. . . really like Januzaj though, he done really well considering his age!

So... what are the chances of Mancini throwing Tevez in at the deep end and starting him tomorrow?

Booed and abused from all around, would be some good revenge there.
