That's harsh. :\ And fucking Barton gets away with a yellow card because they can't do anything if the ref did something in the game?

A good marketing plan from Etihad can justify all of that. The idea that there's a "market price" is a bit erroneous because in this case Etihad have signed up for a ten-year deal; they could quite justifiably say they are basing the price on future expectations of City's performance, which could mean the annual price will be at a discount to the market in the latter half of the deal. This is unlikely, but its not illegal and not unreasonable.

This is the problem UEFA has; it will be impossible to define market price for long-term deals, and sponsorship is one of the areas they don't really want to interfere with; tinkering with cost-side of football is one thing, but they want to maximise the attractiveness of football for sponorship because don't forget UEFA are in the "get juicy sponsors" game themselves.
No.
Shitty doesn't have Arsenal's EPL and European trackrecord.
Sponsorship deals of this size are in large part due to international pedigree, Arsenal has some of it City doesn't.
As for numbers that UEFA can look at to back that up: If Real or ManU ( the biggest names in Football) can show deals that are bigger than this, than the City deal might be considered fair.
If those clubs don't have any deal that bring in comparable cash ( or any other Club for that matter) than it's not a sponsorship deal but a big bag o'cash to buy succes with.

Pedigree doesn't make eastern money. Winning things however does. If shitty don't win the prem this year then they will do next.

Actually, if they bin the manager then I reckon they could do it this year, it's the only thing holding them back.

Past performance does not indicate future behaviour. All Etihad have to do is show a justification based on their expectation of future performance. Its irrelevant what other clubs have done in the past. This is how the law works when you have good lawyers, and I'm sure City will have very good lawyers.

Replaced with another teenager, because that's been working thus far :|

Seen him play? He's much better defensively than Eboué already. Eboué ended up being a versatile tool rather than a legitimate DR backup.

1-0 half time. Should have built more on the early goal but we've defended well when needed. Udinese do look like they have a goal in them though so we really need to get a couple more.

Have to say but I think that Udinese look really strong and as you say will more than likely score...

Vermallen is a rock at the back for Arsenal, they look a lot more organised when he plays.

Looks like Gervinho will take some time to settle into the tempo of the team though.

Theo's been impressive so far. Looking like he wants to force a first team place for himself.

Touchline ban (The Deebs' way)

Ban the manager from the ground
Assign a FiFa official to the manager as a shadow
For the duration of the match they are always within earshot and record everything
Send the recording to FiFa to analyse
(If manager wants a shit FiFa official goes with him etc)

This is a fucking farce. Arsehole Wanker is clearly communicating his wishes.

Apparently UEFA phoned Wenger in the second half and told him to stop communicating with the bench....... imo though they should now ban him for the 2nd leg due to his continual communication with the bench thus negating the ban in the first place. Basicaaly was jsut a premierleague ban. Cant sit at the bench, but can pass on messages, which you cant do in europe

Meh, does it really matter? If UEFA wanted to really stop him talking to the bench they could have. He probably stayed within the rules by not having direct comms or something silly like that..

As for the Barton thing, if it was anyone else you lot would be praising him for giving it to the diving cunt. He did nothing to deserve a red, aggressive yes, but in the rules of the game, only gervinho did wrong.

The whole rules around a touchline ban are shit, just ban the manager from the stadium full stop. Not being allowed into the dressing room until 15 minutes after the match???? wtf is all that abuot it's not like he can do anything when the full time whistle blows.

Shit rule and a shit ban, all because he questioned the fact Barca constantly get decisions no other club the the world get!!

Arsenal looked frail in defence last night, nerves?? god knows but they need to sharpen up fast.

Keeping from stadium = easy communication. Wont be the first time a manager stayed away from the stadium and then was on the phone the whole match. Just means they dont get the full overview and reliant on their staff for info.

Maybe it was a stupid ban to give, but when it is not abided by after given they need to enforce it else all managers will just do the same and wait till UEFA phone to stop them

He was given permission to pass on information via a 3rd party by Uefa. Uefa got pissed of due to Sky showing 43 minutes of Wenger in a 45 minute half. They then asked him to stop and he did, honestly can't see what all the fuss is about.

Sky sports no news creating headlines again.

As for the away from the stadium it's easy communication, it may be, but you can't beat being pitch side for spotting flaws in your tactics, or players making positional mistakes.

Short of putting managers in a holding cell, there's no realistic way they're going to stop them communicating with the bench anyway. It's a stupid rule.

yes there is, ban phones and comms on the bench and stick a camera on to the bench to ensure compliance. Its actually easy if you're serious about it.

Well, realistic in the sense that there is no way they're going to do all that. :p

All managers do it already UEFA should just call it the touchline ban that it is. Unless you strip search the manager then sit him in a sound proof room he will always be able to pass information on. And Wenger is far from the first to use an assistant to make changes but people like bitching about him so that's why there is all this fuss.

Sigh, read my post. Assign an official to shadow the manager for the duration of the match. Problem solved.

assign the official and make the club pay the cost of him being there, otherwise the penny pinchers at UEFA would not allow it :p

What will that stop? I know it is stupid but Wenger could just cough or wink to get his messages across.

Guy in front of Wenger "I think its time Theo came on"
Wenger *coughs
Guy in front of Wenger "I need a pee"

There you go message passed and UEFA can not prove a thing.

This is a non story and people that hate Wenger can't help but jump all over it.
