You make your own luck, and force errors. Something Wengers whiners never seem to learn.

This ref is pissing me off. He not booking players for things worse then the couple he gave out earlier. Why the hell would referees get respect when they cant be consistant, or even close to it.

See Phil Dowd yesterday pussying out of the blatant red for Richardson.

Also how Barton didn't get sent off I don't know. (That's not excusing the Arsenal players btw.)

Well Barton would of been sent off if the Ref saw it as would of Song.

Dowd was awful tbh.

Song - red
Barton - red
Gevinho - red
Richardson - red

I know why he didnt give the red, argue that he overhit it when rounding the keeper thus heading away from go, but tbh how do you round a keeper without heading wide. lol

Yeah, the ref has been poor Corran, players just don't know what to expect.

Barton got booked. He saw it.

It also means he can't have his behaviour reviewed and get the red he deserved. Joke of a system.

He did not see him drag him up off the deck, he only saw the bit after that when he was grapperling with Gerv.

i dont think the ref did see it. I reckon he booked on the say so of the linesman saying something like "he yanked him up".
That or the ref done it for his part in the aftermath before he fell to the ground.

Will all depend on the match report and the reason the ref put down for the booking

But it was the degree of physical contact in both boxes that vexed Villas-Boas.

He said: "A point I want to make when you are playing difficult games like this one is the amount of pushing and grabbing in the box, because it's out of this world.

"We are okay to deal with Stoke's set plays and we were competent enough to avoid the dangers they cause. We know the amount of goals they score with these set plays. But I think there's a limit to the pushing and grabbing, it makes it impossible."

Villas-Boas believes extra attention should be paid by referees to the issue and thinks the idea of additional officials is one that should be looked at.

He said: "Referees say these are the sort of details they are going to be aware of. It's difficult because they have to be aware of a number of situations but in this case maybe the referee needs some extra help.

"But there are no excuses because we were competent enough to defend those set plays, but it's a pity that it was happening."

AVB agrees with me.

unfortunately I think the standard "the ref took action so we can not" will be the reply. He did not see Barton pull him up only the handbags after so he only booked him. It is situations like this that make that rule ridiculous. Song will get the punishment he rightfully deserves but Barton the instigator will skate by yet again, while telling the world he did what he did for love ofnthe club.

I agree that Barton was out of order... Grabbing up a player that dived, I accept, but not a double fist by the front of the shirt (quite high up). Grab them by the arm and lever them up in that manner, that way you can give a slight yank whilst "helping" them to their feet.

But it is clearly up to what the ref has written. If he got sense he will put in that it was for the aftermath and it will give the freedom to do what needs to be done (ie give him the option to say "if i saw the way he grabbed him then I would sent him off". But it is doubtful,

A referee won't do that under the current system, as it'll lead to him being under pressure for not having seen something violent and obvious. They protect themselves and are allowed to protect themselves from fair criticism and appraisal by the current system. It's very self-serving.

It is a great match, better than anything from England over the last 4 weeks at least.

Wenger needs to get RVP & Theo to resign right now. Forget Nasri flog him and do some serious damage in the transfer Market this week.

You are so screwed, I reckon it is just too late to do much in the transfer market unless he was already planning moves before the deal finally went through.
