A lot of good points in this article. Mata really needs to be the player we build our side around I think and stop playing him out wide where he has less influence on the game.

Comparing anyone to Messi is unfair.

I meant building the team around him in a more litteral way - moving him into the centre instead of playing him out wide, so he is more involved in the play more often.

I'd like to see how many opportunities he's wasted compared to the others. Running into space he is fantastic. Give him time with the ball at his feet and he is terrible.

It's annoying when you see him in loads of space with his arms in the air but no one picks him out. Then a few moments later someone will pick him out with a slow pass straight to his feet and all he can do is play it back. Then the commentator will slag him off, saying something like "well he wanted it, should have done better".

I havent followed Mata's season to be honest, but from my experience watching him on previous seasons, the closer he is from the goalie, the better. I wouldnt get him stuck in a fixed position, I'd have him moving all over the front of attack.

I'd say Richards instead of Walker, and Milner / Carrick instead of Wislhere (cause of the injury). CArrick's probably had his best season for us since his first, decent sub to have. I agree Johnson, Ox and Sturridge should all rotate.
