Chelski boys; what's the word on Sturridge, is he going to be back in the team?

Do you even particularly like football? Or is it just the feeling of superiority it seems to give you?

I like football and like watching England, unlike many of the plastic types here. I fail to see any reason to get passionate about any team that I have no connection with.

I know nothing interesting happens outside Villa Park but have you considered that not every person who contributes to this thread lives in England?

The point being Corkenose's question was how we feel about the UEFA first 11 having only 1 premier league player in it. It has sod all to do with anything you are spouting in reply.

Who said anything about getting passionate about foreign football? I enjoy watching football, pretty much any football! (I watched the Womens World Cup this summer FFS!).

For a start if you're interested in the England team it's good to know which set of foreigners are going to hump us in the next tournament, and it's great to watch some of the big matchups - just this week we've had the Milan derby and El Clasico!

Yep, I love watching football, all levels and all leagues. Apparently that makes me not a real fan.

I should sincerely hope so. Really hoping that all this rumours about him being unhappy with not playing through the middle are just paper talk as well. Haven't read/heard anything concrete on either though.

Welll I saw AVB on sky sports saying they agreed at the start of the season that they saw Sturddige's role being playing more as a right winger and that they player was happy with this.

Using my wild card in FF this week and I need to know!!

This. Though, does anyone actually take that tool Turamber in any way seriously anymore? He's basically been posting the same thing every time he posts in these threads for years.

Select from any/all of the following key words: Villa, plastics, shit, England, passion[ate], quality [in reference to any sub-par footballer happening to be employed by Villa].

Throw in some connecting words, a bit of vitriol, a pinch of little Englander mentality and some blind ignorance toward football being anything more than the Premier League and you have a Turamber post.

Well indeed, along with the fact that every time he is interviewed Sturridge has said along the lines that he'd like to play centrally but he's happy to just be playing in the team. I suppose you have to take everything reported in the media with a pinch of salt, but with the season Sturridge has had so far and the fact he is well known to have a pretty big ego, it wouldn't surprise me if he had changed his tune.

Someone from the Guardian on the whole 'card waving' issue:

Honestly, who cares? What's wrong with calling for a player to be booked or sent off? Maybe the player in the wrong shouldn't be in the wrong in the first place? As far as I see it, this is just English pundits (and managers) setting arbitrary moral standards for foreigners because we're not as good at football as them - but by hell, we will be more polite than them. Apart from when Michael Owen is diving against Argentina.

I agree with the sentiment to a large extent to be honest, even if I still feel it is a little tasteless, but I guess the obvious counterpoint would be that a referee's job is hard enough anyway without managers trying to influence them in this way.

UEFA's starting 11 of 2011 with 4.5 million votes in a 4-4-2 formation and just three players outside La Liga

Iker Casillas
Daniel Alves - Gerard Piqué - Thiago Silva - Marcelo
Arjen Robben - Xavi Hernández - Andrés Iniesta - Gareth Bale
Lionel Messi - Cristiano Ronaldo

Manager: Josep Guardiola
How does this make you feel?

Fine.

Mancini was critical of Rooney for the same, and I think that is what is riling everyone. Up until now he's handled himself well and come across as a nice guy.

I don't think his actions help, let him protest like everyone else; shouting.

I fucking hate standing.

I see why people like it though. I'd always choose to sit.

I've always preffered standing, but that's probably because i grew up watching stevenage and the main stand is all seater as is the away end, but the home end behind the goal and the stand opposite the main stand are both fully standing terraces, and that's where the noise is at.

same at St. Marys, when I go I'm always in the northam which is like their 'kop' and although it's all seater everyone stands for the whole game and the stewards don't even try to make people sit.

I've only every sat for the game at wembly and millenium stadium, everywhere else I've always stood

My first Arsenal game at 7 or 8 I think was terraced the atmosphere was great but the views were naff and I did get squished a couple of times. I would like to go to a game again now while I can stand my ground, but I would be forever be doing the spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch check after every bump. Plus i think the police will still have a lot to say about this. No seat = lower price. Clubs will not move 1000 seats for 1000 bodies they will want 2 or 3 so policing cost go up ect.

hmm....

to take Adebayor for one game and loose cash to buy him back later? (He cost's 9.4 to buy and I only get 9.2 for selling him). I'd be putting Gabby in his stead for now....

OKay.... massive risk for ze points!

Not sure about having two newcastle defenders starting, I may put Caulker in instead.

Put your houses on Man Utd winning on Sunday, the ref who hates us most in the world is in charge.

Mike Dean, it's NO fucking coincidence we've won 0 out of the last 10 games you've been in charge of. Please stop being such a biased cunt. It's fucking obvious.
