They should look at Messi for some inspiration, plenty of times he could have gone down but stayed on his feet, I really am warming to him.

While still having a strong dislike for Barca, there can't be anyone out there who still can claim that Ronaldo is a better player than Messi after these games? :p

Only United fans think that. Even the Real madrid fans appreciate at the moment, Messi is superior.

Sorry but while I will agree Messi is a cut above the rest, until he's done it week in week out in the preimiership against opposition that are allowed to tackle, I will always have my reservations about his greatness.

Ronaldo has nothing to prove at all for me.

But by your first sentence you still acknowledge he is a cut above Ronaldo?

Hmm wrongly worded on my behalf, by rest I mean everyone but Ronaldo :p

There's nothing to seperate the two for me as far as individuals go. Ronaldo's record stands up on it's own Merits as does Lionels.

The main difference for me personally which isn't highlighted much is the other players they share the pitch with, Messi has far more assistance than Ronaldo.

Wonder why we are discussing whom of them are better when clearly Suarez is better than both!!! ;)

The important bit of your statement, "after these games". You can't judge them as individuals based on games where they play in teams with different tactics. Ronaldo is largely frustrated in these games because he's isolated. Messi is the centre of most of his teams moves.

There was a good article at the weekend about Ronaldo, asking what has Mourinho done to him because at times he looks a different player than the one last year. Whilst last season there wasnt much between him and Messi, this season Messi has raised the bar even further putting complete daylight between the 2 of them, with Ronaldo going backwards compared to the heights he hit last season.

I dont think Ronaldo will ever reach the heights Messi has set but hes still a fantastic player. Easily the second best player in the world and far ahead of anyone else, but hes just not as good as Messi.

Ronaldo is a fantastic player.

He just plays in a wrong team.

try to imagine Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Messi, Villa together.

That would be borderline illegal.

Ronaldo's main problem now is, due to the insane transfer fee and insistence on moving to Madrid, it is unthinkable to see him at any other team. Given Real's instability, combined with both the dominance of Barca and the upcoming financial fair play rules (whatever the fuck they actually amount to), the future could be said to look murky if not somewhat bleak. I mean, who actually sees Real overtaking Barca in terms of superiority, even if they spent ANOTHER 250million or whatever on new players?

There are no prizes for second place. Well, there is the Copa Del Rey... say no more I guess.

Actually in one or two years I could see Madrid right up there with Barca. The youth and depth of Madrid's squad is hugely impressive. The failings this season were Jose's, he didn not have faith in his own players and it showed in his tactics. Had he allowed them to just go all out against Barca, the games would have been a lot closer.

Agreed, didn't Jose do this in his first year at Inter? Find out his squad and where the weaknesses were then plug them together to form an impressive squad?

Disagree. He and Ronaldo are the same. If they have a more than 50% of reaching the ball, they carry on, if they don't, they fall over like the rest of the cheating bastards.

Sometimes he goes over like a sack of spuds, other times he's taken out but just carries on going. He/Abidal and perhaps Afellay are the only likeable Barcelona players tbh.

As for Real's youth, Chet.. do you really think they would even get a chance? The likes of Ozil, Di Maria, Higuain are all young themselves

On a sidenote, what a don Ozil is, changed the game when he came on for the useless Kaka.

Ahh true true, thought you meant the likes of Sarabia and Morata.. who look like they could come good but doubt they'll get a sniff in the first team.

You say that but the Barcelona train doesn't stop churning out youngsters, next generation there in Thiago, Muniesa, Montoya, Fontas, etc etc

They have the same problem though; look at pique and cesc as the biggest examples

Even the likes of Bojan, Busquets, Messi, Pedro, Pique are around the same age gap.

I'll give credit where credit is due in that Pep is good at bringing the youth through, only got the notice the likes of Pedro, Jeffren, Busquets and those names I mentioned above who have come through and made themselves part of the first squad.

Yes, but through natural wastage - they all came through to replace ageing stars and those that were moved on. I don't see how that is different to any of the teams that have great youth systems, the only difference is that they are lucky (and it is luck, potential isn't always fulfilled) to have had some truly talented youngsters make the grade in the last 10 years.

Ronaldo looks to have become super greedy at Madrid, he was rather greedy at Man Utd but he's taken it to new levels. I don't think playing at Barcelona would suit him much, he's more suited to someone like Man Utd, maybe he should join them.

Man Utd: Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Smalling, Evans, O'Shea, Gibson, Scholes, Anderson, Valencia, Berbatov, Nani. Subs: Kuszczak, Evra, Owen, Giggs, Hernandez, Vidic, Fletcher
Risky lineup there against a team that has nothing to lose. This could be interesting tonight
