Ok. So, in that picture, did all those players and that manager approach the referee and remonstrate with him in an aggressive manner. Yes or no?

Sorry but this is a poor excuse and one that is quite often used wrongly, you can't justify his action because of the possible lack of action for similar such cases even if you actually had all the details.

I should also point out all players need to be stamped on and harder because such action isn't acceptable.

I already posted the details for Terry and Gerrard, they are in context fella.

I put it down to karma with Neville staying on at the Hawthorns the other week, then thought no more about it.

True story :D

You know what, I am kind of glad that happened, it effectively ends his career with us because it proved he just doesn't have enough for this level anymore and yes he should have walked. No doubt.

I can't say I read those posts and judging your reply you don't get what I said any way so probably no reason to go and read them.

Again as stated your reply left me with no doubt that reading your previous posts was pointless and adding this reply hasn't changed that either, but to put it in basic english just for you...any excuse you give doesn't excuse Rafael and any one who supports any team has no basis for excuse with regards to such action.

i did not, but you keep dodging the point so what does it matter

What point? Terry got in the refs face, man handled him and tried to stop him pulling out a red. Is that misconduct? Yes or no?

AGAIN, you need to go back and read. I have not excused Rafael in ANY way.

if using a general definition of the term then yes, if using the guidelines by which a player is charged then no, not necessarily

Rafael-sent-off1.jpg

This and the other stuff you posted just afterwards shows something different to me, perhaps a glib attempt but there you go.

Any way I'm off to count sheep, I'll leave you to it.

yeah i guess the rules of football are useless in a debate about football

instead next time i'll just moan about a different incident from five years ago and call it in context

You haven't read have you? Shame on you for making a judgement without reading everything that followed it.

dodge!

Aoln your evade must be level 5!

It is in context, you abuse the ref, touch the ref, act in agressive manner to the ref before or after the sending off it is misconduct. The difference with Rafael is that he doesn't play for England and isn't a big name.

Let us turn it on it's head. Yesterday, if Rafael had given the ref a V and told him to fuck off. Misconduct or not misconduct?

If Rafael runs up the to the referee and tries to stop him pulling out a red card, misconduct or not misconduct?

What a pointless argument.

Broke the rules and got sent off. Some days you get away with it and others you don't. To now cry and moan that it is some how unfair because of decisions taken in games from years before is just

If your expectations for a referee are consistency you are going to be disappointed, they are human and we only have one on the pitch at any given time. He has limited access to support from off the pitch and minimal access to video technology.

He is not a robot and will be effected by exactly the same things we all are emotions, prejudice, the crowd, the moment even. Like Forrest Gump says - "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you going to get"

Most top teams try and bully the ref, it's a pointless argument. Both UTD and Chelsea swarm the ref when they get a decision against them.

The captain and the player/s involved should be the only ones anywhere near the ref. Anyone else, instant yellow card. It very rarely happens in Rugby (in both flavours)

Gohan, you are missing the point. The refs are so inconsistent, some players continually get off scott-free for doing the same or worse than Rafael (Rooney is one of the biggest offenders as well!) and others get hammered. They keep going on about the Respect campaign but how can you respect people who do not apply the rules exactly the same way at different incidents in the same game even. The rules need to be simple and they are, if you approach the referee waving your arms and coming across as an agressive arsehole then you have to walk. Captain or not.

That is my point.

To be fair Rafael shouldn't have been playing since he should have been banned for a red against Meireles ;)

Wasn't it Carrick who ran after the ref then shoulder tackled him? He did not get sent off tho :( Or was it someone else? United player at least!

That's because in Rugby the ref can give a free kick and keep moving it 10 yards closer to the other end of the pitch until the players give in. I quite like the idea for Football. Any dissent is punished by moving the free kick closer to the opponents goal until a penalty is given. Would soon stop people arguing with the ref.

In other news, Suso has been promoted to Melwood :) Wonder when we will start seeing subs from him.
