Just found this thread on XDA that will root the following phones with just a 1 click!
Google Nexus One (2.2)
HTC Hero (2.1)
HTC Magic (1.5)
Dell Streak (2.1)
Motorola Milestone (2.1)
Motorola XT701
Motorola XT800 (2.1)
Motorola ME511
Sony Ericsson X10 (1.6)
Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro (1.6)
Acer Liquid (2.1)
Vibo A688 (1.6)

[APP] [ROOT] 1-click root for N1 - xda-developers

Iv'e not tried it yet but judging by what others have said in that XDA thread it works. And you can unroot it and still keep your warranty in tact.

Glen. I've posted this already. GLENN!

:D

edit:// I take it back, the one I linked to was the HTC Desire one click unroot, not the generic android one.

Does this work with the latest bootloader shipped with froyo?

Excellent, was putting off rooting my cousins hero for him as I couldn't be arsed to get another sd card to use as a goldcard, but this makes it nice and simple.

OK. I know I'm going to regret asking this. Why would you want to do this?

I'm of the type who wants to phone people on my phone and send the occasional text. Other than that I want to do fuck all with it. It's a phone and it'd have to be a pretty amazing thing that made me want to look at the screen rather than look about me whilst I'm walking :)

Customisation, ability to remove network branding and pre-installed apps, ability to unlock the phone if it is network locked. Ability to install custom ROM's to improve phone performance, radio signal, battery life and play with new features before their official releases.

Actually I thought it had rooted the phone (cos it said it had) but I can't use Titanium Backup as it says it can't acquire root access and that I must verify my ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox...

Actually it did work!! For some reason Titanium Backup had not installed BusyBox...but after I installed that it works! Yay!!
