Since the shock finding that some of you have political views :uhoh:, e.g. Granneh being a Socialist Worker, who's willing to peg their colours to the donkey and state their beliefs.

Personally I've always been pragmatic. I'm far too scientific to believe in ideals that I know could never work. I was often accused of being a closet Tory at Uni because I dared to challenge the ridiculous student political views (in the pub only, far too lazy and far too unconvinced of my own superiority to get involved.)

The big-mouthed leftie activists were obviously only doing this in a desperate attempt to get a shag. I prefered to try buying a lass a drink (not that I ever got any shags.)

I also hated the hypocrisy of them. Speak a word about their chosen chosen victim groups that they deem to be un-PC it's way out of line but advocating burning piles of Tories or anyone who earns over 30k (unless they are a union leader) and you get a round of applause.

So, who has strong political beliefs and who has been an activist of some sort ?

what do I know? I'm apolitical! *sings "the red flag"*

Ive never been involved in politics (to be quite frank and blunt about it) the whole lot makes me want to boke.

Ive never heard a politician answering a direct question with a direct answer.

My own belief is that all of the BULLSHIT that they roll out during their election campaigns should be formed into a contract. If they dont measure up to their claims within 1 year of election - out they go.

Lets face it - everyone one here that works has a contract - if you dont measure up, out you go. Why should politicians be any different?

Oh, and another thing, cut down on the absurd amounts of money they spend.

I dont think there is a lot of difference between the political parties in the UK at the moment. They all want the same thing.

They just have different ideas of how to get there.

For me it all depends on which leader I like best really....and also if I think they have the right way of getting things done

Political Compass gives a good idea of where your politics sit. I'm a liberal hippie socialist myself, vote Lib Dem at the general elections, and SNP at the Scottish elections. I've heard that they have council elections too, but I think I keep sleeping through them.

Student politics are a joke anyway (sorry students, but its true). You need some life experience before you can have a proper opinion.

I just went onto my Parish Council, mainly because I was involved lots with getting a Playing Field for our little village, and the Parish Council need a representative to look after the management of it.

My politics are quite varied, on some Issues I'm to the right of Ghengis Khan, on others I'm a wet socialist, what can you do eh?

I personally believe party politics should be banned, people should have their own set of individual beliefs instead of pandering to fixed doctrine, and rather like religion, you end up doing or advocating things that normally you would be opposed to, it makes hypocrites of us all.

Unfortunately, this viewpoint tends to make you everyone's adversary. I couldn't care less, most conflict minded people will think of an excuse to oppose you in the end.

Puts me well to the left & libertarianist of Tony Benn, Ken Livingstone and Ghandi... which I think is fairly accurate to be honest :)

HU'S ON FIRST (New president of China)
By James Sherman

(We take you now to the Oval Office.)

George Bush: Condi! Nice to see you. What's happening?

Condi: Sir, I have the report here about the new leader of China.

George: Great. Lay it on me.

Condi: Hu is the new leader of China.

George: That's what I want to know.

Condi: That's what I'm telling you.

George: That's what I'm asking you. Who is
the new leader of China?

Condi: Yes.

George: I mean the fellow's name.

Condi: Hu.

George: The guy in China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The new leader of China.

Condi: Hu.

George: The Chinaman!

Condi: Hu is leading China.

George: Now whaddya' asking me for?

Condi: I'm telling you Hu is leading China.

George: Well, I'm asking you. Who is leading
China?

Condi: That's the man's name.

George: That's who's name?

Condi: Yes.

George: Will you or will you not tell me the
name of the new leader
of
China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China?
I thought he was in the
Middle East.

Condi: That's correct.

George: Then who is in China?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir is in China?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Then who is?

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Yassir?

Condi: No, sir.

George: Look, Condi. I need to know the name
of the new leader of

China. Get me the Secretary General
of the U.N. on the phone.

Condi: Kofi?

George: No, thanks.

Condi: You want Kofi?

George: No.

Condi: You don't want Kofi.

George: No. But now that you mention it, I
could use a glass of
milk.
And then get me the U.N.

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N.

Condi: Kofi?

George: Milk! Will you please make the call?

Condi: And call who?

George: Who is the guy at the U.N?

Condi: Hu is the guy in China.

George: Will you stay out of China?!

Condi: Yes, sir.

George: And stay out of the Middle East!
Just get me the guy at the
U.N.

Condi: Kofi.

George: All right! With cream and two
sugars. Now get on the
phone.

(Condi picks up the phone.)

Condi: Rice, here.

George: Rice? Good idea. And a couple of egg
rolls, too. Maybe we
should
send some to the guy in China.
And the Middle East. Can you get Chinese food
in the Middle East?

Well, since I already knew that image doesn't paste...;)

Your viewpoint on life is a constantly changing thing, but students tend to pick their stance for its trendiness rather than practical reasons. Thats a huge generalisation, but its more or less true.;)

I'm where Robin Cook was a few years back, but with fewer mistresses. Looks like me (and frizz), despite struggling in the lefty/hippy compound, are still percieved as Atilla the Hun by the ones in the bottom-left corner.

Actually I consider myself more are less in the centre, but some of the "blatent right-wing" questions in the survey are obviously going to push me leftwards.

The political compass is a total waste of time - the terms are far too broad, and the questions themselves are very badly worded.
