In my opinion the best RA spec for a mage rr11 is:

Purge2
MoC3
MCL2
M. of Magery 3
Aug. Acuity 3
Aug. Dexterity 3
Wild Power 3

I always think, the active RAs are the more important, and should be putted first.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but when it comes to most bang for the buck using WP and MoM, the Necro TL compiled a nice table: http://vnboards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=70591653 (some ways down in the thread)

Reproduced here for the benefit of FH (credit to Redh of the VN Boards):

its a nice table, but i don't think its correct.

if you invest points into AA, mom will have more effect. if you invest pointsi in AA and MoM, WP has more effect, etc etc

also int has more effect than what he asumes, 1% per 5 int is not accurate.. FAR from it actually

Im currently on:

Aug dex4
Aug Acuity2
MoM3
WP3
MoF1
Purge1

Sash and tartaros + using pots all the time (to break up the timers) gives me enough mana.

I dont find the crit % increase of WP3 is a major increase as such, or at least dont seem to find im criting alot. If WP4 has a massive difference then i might drop aug dex4 for WP4, though i've heard WP4/5 is bugged to about 0.5% actual increase than WP3.... I hope im wrong.

For MoM, i would either take 3+ or nothing at all, the small % dmg increase isn't worth the points and id rather have it in boosting acuity or wp (though not sure on the WP4/5 see bit above).

For acuity i find the magic number of around 320+ to have great influence on how much you generally nuke for, not sure of all the logistics, but it seems to work for me ;p

EDIT: Missing the extra 5-15% Pierce resist ontop you need the mom, and acuity to give your nuke more "strength" to do top end dmg - directed at none debuffed targets

I like knowing my nuke is gunna hit for XXX amount rather than waiting on a crit chance to do nice dmg

I like wp better than mom. Critical hits are the win  Wp4 makes you crit a lot, my brother could give a better calculation on this as he played a dd caster with high wp.

Edit: "extra 5%/15% pierce resist" - what do you mean? The max. rp is 10% now, which is easily reached, I got it on my sm from AT and jacina.

At 4L5 i got purge 2,mcl1, dex3, mom2, wp1

Going to spread upcomming points into wp, mom and aug acuity evenly.

Imo purge 2 is absoluty needed for albs and mids simply to get rid of that lame stun+debuff crap from hibs :)

As a mid caster in a 3 healer group I wouldn't spend 15 points on purge2 as a caster, rather not have purge at all and invest the points into something else. Our 3 healers in celerity were awesome, though I had purge3 as a walking shield needs to be stun/root immune :| (if I purge mez, I might get rooted, and that is death for my utility in the group, so I counted on the healers too for that). Neither of our casters had purge2/moc3 (I win omg I rox etc) and we still did fine.

As an alb caster purge is viable I guess, as albs don't have 3 demezzers in their groups.

The table that Belomar reproduced cant be accurate in all cases, since aug acuity will have more or less effect depending on what acuity you start with (for a thane f.ex that has very low acuity it will make more of a difference), and as VF pointed out it will then affect the viability of mom and wp.

crits win fights, and cost no power either.

i went dex3 acu3 mom3 wp3 on my rr6ish wiz, the only one i would buy more of is WP.

What u do with WP4, MoM4 and Acui4 without power? = MCL (Tartaros isnt up always, and pots r 30% of power and have to wait 60 secs every pot)

What u do with WP4, MoM4 and Acui4 when ppl interrupting u? = MoC

What u do with WP4, MoM4 and Acui4 when u r stunned, mezzed? = Purge2

I'm not sure if the above table is the right one... But there's a table out there which has pretty accurate info... The bonuses are indeed not additive but multiplicative (orwhatever)...

If looking at damage over time, its always been MoM > WP > AA... When looking at 'wtfpwn' damage shots, its probably WP > MoM > AA...

WP has the potential to be more dangerous then MoM... 4 lucky 50% crits on a target will kill just about anything... A 'little' more damage from MoM wont do that... And more WP will make those lucky streaks happen more often...

So I'd say that the choice between WP / MoM is a bit personal, but both increase damage more then AA (on buffed casters, unbuffed that might be different)...

Actives are all a waste if you play well ;)

anyway back to topic,
running
mcl2, moc3, wp4,mom2,dex4,acuity3,mof1.

Mcl2 for self debuffers is a must, with current mana drain of a mana enchanter base nuking, you will need it, even if I have Tart/sash/power pots.. For spec nukers mcl2 is overkill.

Moc3 is a must for me as I solo in crowded areas and get adds alot, those I jump I can handle, moc helps me survive those extra hours ;)

WP4, crit like a maniac, if I dont crit on a target im suprised. raises dps far more then MOM could ever do, Mom 2 is to expensive for what you get for it. I only put last remaining points into MOM2 as I didnt see any other ability to spend it on for dmg output. DPS is insane with WP 4.

Dex4 helps me with the speed, as I prefere speed & crits is a lethal combination. 1 crit makes the difference, MoM dosent, if I get 2 crits the target is beyond heals ;)

acuity3 to increase overall dmg.

Mof1 just last remaning points to get rid of resistance of heat debuff & pbae.

.

If all invaders u find are afk, looking the sea, etc.. yes, u can go without purge and moc, but yeah forget albs or mids, dont have mezz, stun or root, or some aoe thing what interrupt when u fighting right!

Every acuity pount giv u around 3-5%+ minimun dmg and power.

Dex4 is like a waste of 10 pts really, why 400 dex when 385 is close the cap? with 400 dex u cast 0.0000001 sec more fast then 385.

Anyways, a soloer mage, should have purge2 atleast.

i definately dont waste 15 points for mcl2. With pots + tart charge i never had a problem with power. At least at the 95% of the fights.

For pbaoers moc 3 is vital so if u combine moc3 +mcl 2 u need to be 5L5

Aug dex must be at least 3 since u improve a lot your casting speed.

About mom or wp. Tbh honest i prefer to be balanced on those 2 so i ll get them to 3 both.

Atm i am 6L1 and i have

moc3
aug dex 3
aug acuity 2
mom2

I want 3 more pts to get mom 3 and then i ll go for wp.

For a pure nuker i think he can leave behind moc and go for

aug dex 3
aug acuity 1
mom4
wp4

for 6L1 giving one more to acuity 2 and then go for purge (or the oposite)

In conclusion the new ra system definately dont help the lower rrs. U have to be at least rr7 in order to be balanced :/

So they made the keep sieges like this in order to help those to farm rps easier. They made one mt and they tried to balance it with another mt. Way to go

Like Stallion says, MCL2 is a must for all self-debuffers (i.e. baseline nukers, essentially). For spec nukers, you will not have a problem managing your power with artifacts and power pots, but a self-debuffer consumes loads of power just nuking down a single target.

No way, not even close... AA5 gives you about 9.6% more damage... That number have been gotten by testing, not maths... The damage gained from WP is, however, based on maths... (11.6% for WP5)

WP4 does not give more damage over time compared to MoM4, but it is something you'll remember... You remember the big hits, the 3-4 big crits in a row... Not the 5 next nukes that you had crits of 10 dmg or no at all... Its classic denial... A zerker had it in my guild, until I parsed his log file and showed him his true average damage... He's still in denial, as he continue's to claim he hits much harder on average...

Maybe I putmyself wrong, Moc is verry vital for me atleast but Purge is a huge waste iin my opinion. all im saying is those points spent into purge2 can saved if you play smart/well. Ofc theres situations where it would be great but its verry verry rare. 385 dex is far from cap, when will you understand this :eek7:

WP4 does not give more damage over time compared to MoM4, but it is something you'll remember... You remember the big hits, the 3-4 big crits in a row... Not the 5 next nukes that you had crits of 10 dmg or no at all... Its classic denial... A zerker had it in my guild, until I parsed his log file and showed him his true average damage... He's still in denial, as he continue's to claim he hits much harder on average...

Agree with this. I ran with wp5 for the first couple of weeks and enjoyed the crits, but now im a more a fan of mom/aa with just wp3. Crits are nice, but im not convinced the damage adds up either, as magmatic says you notice the big crits, but not the fact that all your non crit DDs are 50-100 points below, and the stupidily small crits etc..

Try with 385 dex and then with 410 dex, u will see u cast 1 pbaoe more in 1 min.

I prefert do 400 dmg always, instead 300+100.

and btw... the old and good mages dont need bodyguard nowadays :)
