Hi there,

I was wondering if people (especially GMs) could take a min to answer a few questions, as I'm trying to gather some information direct from the source. Anyone who uses/pays for/rents a TS2/Vent server, or anyone vaguely interested in the notion, read on and reply!

If you use voice coms...
*What provider do you use?
*How did you find the provider?
*What are the subscription fees?
*Would a 99.9% uptime, lower-cost provider entice you to change?
*Would a daoc-tailored provider spark more interest?

If you don't use voice coms...
*Are you aware of the options?
*Are you aware of the prices?
*How would you go about finding a provider?
*Are the costs too high?
*Would a daoc-tailored provider spark more interest?
*Are voice coms necessary?
*Would lower-priced servers create more demand?

Any other comments about voice coms services are welcome.

Why pay for something when you can use it for free? Anyone with a semi descent connection can run a voice com server! And yes i use both vent and TS

So guess you wanna try to make some money with providing voice com servers?

more like "pay for itself" or at least "not use up too much bloody cash" than "make money" I'd imagine ;)

Legal versions of ventrilo only allow 8 people at once, teamspeak seems a bit flakey when I try to run it on my router. Always been planning to get some sort of voice comms for the guild but never get around to it - we've had the odd person run a teamspeak server on their machine but nothing recently.

If it was reasonably cheap I'd probably not mind paying for voice comms I guess. Not really sure how much I'd class as "reasonably cheap" mind you :)

Aha, thats why we run the old version of Vent.
I never really thought about any limits in the software.

We use both vent and TS. We always have atleast 2-4 servers up so
if you ask nicely I think you can borrow a channel if you need.

If you want some sort of permanent setup I think we will have to speak with
the guys and see if we can sort that.
