They don't. Believe me. TF2 is not really Team Fortress Classic 2. It's Team "Dumb it down for the steam generation" Fortress 2 I'm not saying it's a bad game, It looks like it will be good fun for some public server mayhem. But I've never enjoyed public servers as much as I've enjoyed clan matches etc. And TF2 just doesn't seem to have that "clan" element to it anymore. It's less mad-skillz based and more "shoot shoot shoot" based.

If you want TFC2, then look no further than Fortress Forever, done by a group of ex-tfcers, it's faithful to TFC, while adding some nice touches and of course upgrading the visuals. And it's free! (If you have HL2) Fortress Forever - A Team Fortress Mod for Half-Life 2

I downloaded the Pre-launch files, but when I try and play it does not allow it. I could not see the Beta for this anywhere.

My friend told me it was officially released Monday 17th 12:00am USA time, so that's approx 6am our time.

afaik this is only for people who bought it through steam not hardcopies

edit: mine isnt working either :/
steam announcment says later today (yesterday) so i guess the download servers are being hammered

Yeah my friend is playing atm, said there's about 10 server's which are Private, but hopefully by this evening people will have more public ones setup.

Love being the Spy but i'm finding the Scout kinda fun too!

played scout for the most part, spy and hwgay for the rest
did a few hrs on fortress forever and i have to say i do like it, although it is crazy fast ><

Is FF faster paced than TF2 then? Ive been playing some FF over the last couple of days, havent got TF2 though yet, prolly wont until the actual orange box release in October. Quite enjoying FF so far though

yes it is a fair bit faster, FF is closer to the original and TF2 is deathmatch:source speed

Sorry the video is a little juddery, my HL2 demo recording doesn't seem to like my PC. FF is a lot smoother and more fluid than this video makes it look. I just made it to give a rough idea of the type of gameplay. anyone who played tfc should be able to see the similarity.

And yes, I suck at flag capping

Is there still an Engineer and Medic class?
Loved those in TFC and ofc soldier, putting down a lvl3 sentry then hearing that beep beep sound and racking in the kills ftw.
And conc jumping is that still in aswell? Used to have maps where you had to conc jump all the way to the end.

Yes to all, not sure about Conc jump tho

Soldiers can jump and shoot rockets at the floor for extra height, also demo man can lay a bomb, stand on it, jump+detonate for extra height.

Pretty much, you have a "we capture your zones, then afterwards you capture ours" game mode, also a "capture the flag (briefcase)" mode.

There may be another but i cant remember
