most of the ORA books seriously rock. imo you should have a look if you can find it in PDF form anywhere. they are available, and that way you can check to see it's the one you mean.

If it's protocol/implementation level stuff you want, this series by Douglas Comer is amazing. I'm mid-way through some TCP/IP stack development at work atm, and volume 1 is a daily reference.
