Right I've wanted a tattoo for a while, I don't want anything shit, ie traditional sailor in blue ink shit.

I want something either shiny black, or simple coloured/shaded.

I want a dragon tattoo on my right shoulder.

Heres a few I've found that I like the look of, if anyone wants to help me in my quest please post links/imgs of anything you find.

If I end up getting one done I'll post some pics.

Heheh.

If I do get one done, I'd like a kanji right in the middle of my back between my shoulder blades saying my name or something like that :-]

I definately wouldnt get anything like that done without specifying it myself.

I heard a story a while back about a girl who went to china and got a tattoo done with her boyfriends name on her arm, but they couldnt understand her so they put "kung fu fighter" on instead.

She didnt find out for MONTHS until she showed it to a chinese girl who burst out laughing.

Ooo how very Robbie Williams.

I trust you're a fan of his work then?

I know this may sound a silly question, but why do you want one?

Hmmm... good question.

I think the best answer I can give is, I have a fascination with body art/tattoos. Probably stemming from a girlfriend who had one and I could never leave it alone :-]

I'd love something simple and stylish, representing a culture I think is intensely beautiful, and something I'm interested in.

I want it on my right shoulder because I want it hidden most of the time ie wearing regular clothing etc, but a large enough piece to display it when nekkid ish ( and swimming etc. ).

And to respond....and maybe make you think a little ( unlikely on these forums! ) Why not?

I already have a Superman emblem on with left shoulder and a Batman one on my right. They're to remind me never to grow up too much. I'm thinking of getting something new, but have no ideas.

I have tattoos, I dont like mine, I had them 15 years ago...................BUT I would have another if I could find one in the same colour, all the same coulour, not black something all red or all yellow or summat. Brandon Boyd(Incubus) has a cool one on his forearm i want one like that.

I had one done in Aus, was much cheaper than over here :)

Anyway I found a basic style of dragon I wanted, then asked the tattoist to make some changes, he went away and made a few sketches and I had myself a unique tatoo that I was happy with. Don't just pick one of the wall, make sure its unqiue to you.

I will post the pics later today.

Make sure its unfashionable, that way it won't be shit in 20 years time. Also ask some other people who have had tattoos for years, see if they still think its a good idea.

No lead to connect my camera to pc at the mo. Looks the same but without the red.

Do you think it was worth it?

+ how long did it take + cost?

About 35 minutes, $160AUS, so about £70.

It was worth it, I have wanted a tatoo for ages, always told myself it wouldnt be a dragon, but I knew I had to get it once I saw what the bloke had drawn for me.

Planning to get another 2, one on each shoulder. Will wait a year or so though see if I still do.

Opposeable or what style?

I saw a circular one, quite large between the shoulder blades that looked really good, but I've never been one for huge stuff like that, I think if you get too many it lessens the effect etc.

Hmm I've seen so much stuff whilst I've been hunting for something that I can't decide atm. So i'll keep this thread open and post stuff I like the look of.

The one here is a bit big, but its really impressive.

Like I said though I dont want something *this* big.

And another :-]

I quite like the way these come out on girls, but I dont think I could go through with one all over my back.

okies.

I want something in a similar position to the tattoo on the right.
This is also a good demonstration of the style I dont want, the ink looks crap, and the positioning of the dragon isn't the same as what I want.

I had my first tattoo done about 4 years ago, started with summit small (japanese symbol) on my right arm. Was a lot less painful than i thought and decided a few months later i wanted another one on my lower back. The guy that did my tattoo's was really good and helpful, and was happy to sketch a design i wanted, a week later i went back and got it done. I can honestly say i've never been in more pain in all my life, it felt like the tattoo needle was grinding into my spine, however it looks rather smart. Only thing i'd say about em now tho is that the colour has started to fade.. a lot. In about a year or so both will have to be redone. All in all though i still like em, both are in places that can be covered if needed and i'm still happy.
As someone said earlier don't go and pick a design off the wall, get the guy to sketch you one. Also have a look round the guys studio to make sure he has a good grasp on personal hygene etc :p

Problem with tatto, give it a few year's, and they look really poor, as the ink starts to fade ect.

Unless you want to get it re-done, every so often..

If it fades quickly, then the artist hasn't gone deep enough. Though most places will touch it up free if its within a year of getting it done. The more it hurts, the less it fades usually.

Had the Om symbol tattooed on my right upper arm last September. Painful, but worth it.

Thinking of getting another tattoo of something on the left arm.
