tattoo question

does anyone know if you can get a tattoo to cover or even go on a scar please?
i mean will tattoo artists even do one over a scar or can it not be done?

I think you better ask in a tattoo shop =P They are very helpfull.. so to sell you one, they say yes. If you don't trust em, ask ur docter.

Depends on the type of scar, deep cuts and whatnot, probobly, if there healed well enough. If it's a surgical scar, dont bother, the tissue wont hold it well enough (Seen it tried). Consult a doctor though, always a good precaution.

lol if i got some one to tattoo my arse they'd need a hell of a lot of ink and a real thick needle, think rhino guys.

and yes i generally do think scars are tre sexy but this ones on me and i hate it.

After all, if you in a serious enough crash (in a car) to warrent scars, it's not the only things you'll get. Several hundred stitches, broken bones, bloodloss, nerve damage and a long and painfil recovery. Oh, and the "cool" scars you wanted. Still want some? Just saying, scars may a nice fasion accesory, but they have a price, and there not realy a bird puller (depite what you may think).

Plus they are other considerations, but i've ranted enough for one post. Next!

i agree .. could also be a scar from a mentally traumatic experience (rape . mugging , assault , abuse etc etc) and id iamgine those kinda scars. some poeple dont want to be remided of how they got there..

or they could be purely cosmetic scars from surgery (not have to be cosmetic surgery) but maybe froma cisarian birth .. operation etc etc. and they think its ugly hence want to make it look better. hence enhance there personal confidence in it being hidden..

checked out that BME site this morning, wow kind of made me feel a bit better about my lil old war wound, from what i read though you can get tattoos to cover them, i have 2 tattoos already and my bf doesnt like any tattoos but i got mine years b4 i met him and he says theyre part of me so he loves them too (aww) but he doesnt want me to get another.

I guess i shall just have to see if i can live with it a little longer and if i still find it um not unbearable but i have issues about it then i'll do something about it.

tbh freddys house best place to come for getting info, you guys know all kinds of stuff i'd never have thought of looking on a site like that one

Been years since I had my tattoo done and never regretted it once. I think it all depends on what you have done really, having the names of a partner written on you is just silly, but a well done tattoo can make you smile every time you see it

In your case i'd still be tempted to pay the doctor a visit though before having one done, at least he can see the nature of the scar tissue and judge wether it would handle the work or not. It would be horrid to have a tattoo done and then have it go looking worse or distorted in several months, it is perminent after all.

If your funds stretch that far the cosmetic surgery you can get these days is pretty nifty at making some scars barely noticeable now, and if they don't you can always tell the doc its depressing you and have it done on the NHS if your in the UK

yeah my bf brought that one up, the nhs plastic surgery thing and tbh im not for it if i cant afford it myself then its a no go (this does not reflect on any one else, its just i hate when you see about a 13 year old going to nsh getting a free boob job and i compare this to that, on me that is, anyone else i not got a problem with it).

been thinking about that website body modification thingy a lot since this morning i saw a really cool pic of this lady she had an accedent when she was like 4 years old some boiling water got spilled all down her back and she got a tattoo that made it in to a shape one of the burns looked like a bird so she had it made in to one, this idea really struck me, up till now i've been thinking of ways to hide/disguise it but that got me thinking of a way to transform it.

if theres any people out there with talent for drawing i might be holding a wee "design me a pic comp" in a while need to talk it over with the bf as although it is my body and i can do what i like with it i value his opionion and dont want to do anything that would upset him (lets be honest i wouldnt be too pleased if he came home one day with his eye brows shaved off and boob implants).

Im thinking along the lines of a sword (already have 2 tattoos as i have mentioned b4 and they both mean something special to me, swords have always been a strong symbol for me personally) as its a straight scar and tapers at the end, but i shall heed your advice and consult a doctor before or even if i do anything.

I can understand that, always been dragons for me, so thats what I had my tattoo done of.

I'd imagine a scar like you described could easily be turned into a sword, my ex had a tattoo like that done at same time as me, with a rose around it. She had it done on her spine though which is a very painful place to choose incidently

I wouldn't worry about the NHS though, whilst I hate people that abuse it, it gets abused for alot less reasons then what you want. If its something that genuinly bothers you then you do have a viable reason to seek cosmetic surgery. I think sites like the Bupa site has a rough guide to cosmetic surgery costs.

But still check with the Doc, its what they are there for ! :touch:

Can you cover up an Old Tattoo with a New one ?

When I got my 1st tattoo, I didn't think about if it would suit me in future years or not (I was rather young (13yrs) when I had it done) Now all the years have gone by and I do Hate it now.
I Dont want to go thru with that whole process of getting it removed....And have been thinking about getting it covered, but not sure if its possible.

Any feed back ? :wub:

yep you can get it covered over with a darker tattoo, go to tatt shop and discuss with them they can tell you what sort of stuff you can get, redoing tattoos is commen.... people get names of loved ones then break up lol

A tattoo hurts but is bearable, the fact that hundreds of needles are piercing your skin would mean that it not hurting someone is a lie...but if you put yourself into as spiritual a state as you can, it's an enjoyable pain in my opinion.

I only have two tattoos though, and I'm 17.

Yes you can, but you have to take into account of the first tattoo. It may mean you need to have a very chunky bold piece put over it, which sometimes can lead to yet another unwanted tattoo...only bigger.

Some people get a kind of acid wash thing before hand to take the original tattoo down to as pale/faded a state as possible, then get the cover-up done.
