Considering the density of sensory nerves in your lips, the answer is YES it would be EXCRUTIATINGLY painful. There would be screaming, crying and much cursing.

You see I would of said not as painful as say the inside of your arm.

The mouth is pretty tough.

Having said that I wouldn't of attempted it. I am back for my first tattoo session in 6 months on Saturday

I was watching a program about prisons on Bravo last night. There was this guy who was a neo-Nazi and every part of his body was covered in tattoos, mainly swastikas. He was talking about them and he said the worst places were his feet and the inside of his lip, said the pain was unbearable. He was a murderer as well.

Well after being reminded on how much tattoos hurt yesterday I would talk your lad into spending his money on something else. I was going to continue my tattoo into a sleeve but as soon as he started I thought "fuck that". He had to do some more outline (which is what your boy will have to have inside a lip) and it was really quite painful, this was on my arm as well.

Thing is let him do it, you can't stop him really, he will say it didn't hurt but I promise you he will be in utter agony when hes having it done Jup.

I have always said that anyone who says tattoos don't hurt are lying, you get used to the pain the longer you are sat in the chair but the first 5 minutes you wonder if you can stay the course. Its worse after though, my arm is itching like a bastard and its really sore, sleeping with cling film (unless its part of some exciting sex thing) around your arm is also not the most fun I have ever had.
