Tape > Pc > Cd

Hej,

As tapes are like old skool and my car house and pc and shit are like cd players anyone know how i can some how connect tapes to my pc then burn onto CD? ive searched too buy the tapes on CD but old hardcore heaven was tapes only :<

Afaik you can buy a 'tape drive', its like a detachable cd-rom drive that you can plug old tapes into, but afaik it's cost over £100, was a while ago when i was told about it aswell.

run the outputs of a tapedeck to the inputs on your soundcard if you got any and record it as .wav files using some basic shity program to do that.
then burn to a cd.

Oldest Skool. You are officially old if you remember hooking one of these bad boys up to your Speccy or C64 to play games like Way of the Exploding Fist.

atm my PC is hooked up to my cd player, i can listen to music from my pc on the cd player using AUX, but how would i reverse it so when i play a tap is going through the pc? wouldnt the scound just go to speakers etc

put it into the line in, or mic, or whatever, and you can then record it as it plays.

tried a few things in the past, if you have one, or a mate with one, guitar leads work very well or anything else that will plug in both ends .. i suspec the tapes are probably not the best quality anyway so you wont need a complex or expensive transfer system.

find earphone socket on stereo, use 3.5 jack to 3.5 jack to plug into line in on soundcard.

if no earphone socket, then maybe you can use 2X phonos to 3.5 jack if it has them on the back, failing that, butcher a lead to take the place of the speakers.


should be a fair few ways to do the job.

think you can use pretty much anything, maybe try using nero if you got it? nero 7 has some sound editing/recording stuff.

Soundforge is the best soundsoftware I´ve used to record and reduce scrappy noises and stuff from the tapes. Try that

See, now I'm getting all nostalgic for playing Elite on my mate's Commodore 64 and loading the game off a creaky cassette...

rofl i remember when everyone was fighting to put their CD's on tape so they could listen to them on their sony walkman's (or walkmen...Hmmm) on the bus to school!

and that was an old school!
