Tailors! A plea for sanity!

Been trawling CMs this past week or so for tempered siluric leather to use as linings for chain. No-one seems to stock it. All I can find are MP or 99% pieces at silly prices.
Here's a tip for you all. The only people who are interested in af96 leather are ACers looking for linings and we don't care what quality it is. We also don't want to pay 20x cost for an MP just to use for a lining. Anyone around that level who actually wants leather armour at quality is going to get af102, af96 is entirely pointless except for ACers.

Let sense prevail, stick it all up at a reasonable margin over materials cost so that ACers can use them or don't bother. It's frustrating seeing a single pair of af96 gloves being offered for 500g when all I need are a dozen or so pairs of random quality ones which would normally cost me about 30g each.

Believe me any tailor who keeps his CM filled with linings at 10-15% over materials cost is going to make a fortune from me.

If you want drop here a line of what kind of clothes you need. This is one of my old ideas, dont ask me why I havent done it so far.

By the way - I totally agree with you, the standard price for raw materials cloth parts for AC should be cost+10%. After all its not even a waste of time since you dont have to chase MP's and ghosts here, its just a press of a button and no worries about the sound you'll get when the item is done.

My house is at Jerrick/Dalton, /houseface 439. My prices will be cost + 10%.

I'd like to know what's you need and if you are 24/7 ACer or crafting just occasionally.

aye what stuff can be used as lining? not been tailoring for more then a fwe days so its hard to know stuff like that.. will hit 800 soon and go to bed then its 850 tomorrow

For top level chain I need af96 leather (tempered siluric) and for plate I need af45 cloth (quilted silksteel). I craft a lot, most of the time I have orders and if I don't have an order but I have spare cash I'll craft for MPs to sell on my CM. Belcar used to keep his CM filled and I'd empty it 2 or 3 times a week but I've not seen him around recently.

You've missed the point. You're crafting those pieces anyway. MPs don't just happen, if you're producing MPs then you're producing a load of lower quality stuff at the same time. You can either sell those bits back to the merchant for less than it cost you to make them or you can put them on your CM and make money on every item that you craft regardless of the quality.

You seem to miss the point yourself I'm afraid. Normaly LGM tailors only work on AF102 leather or AF51 cloth MP's and what they have as left-overs can NOT be used as liners as you need one tier lower, right? What's your point now?
Your best bet is to find someone who is skilling up a tailor and pay him
Or even better, make a tailor yourself ... they are cheap and fast to skill up...

My point is that some tailors are producing MP af96 leather or af45 cloth as it's fairly common on CMs - which is what I said in my first post. I assume they are skilling up on it as I can't believe they're getting orders for it.

so if you see them on CM's, what's the problem pm'ing them and asking if they could keep the next few for you? don't see the point of "a plea for sanity" just because you need liners for your orders?

For the record I have. As there seems to be so much of it around however I thought I'd point out that there's not likely to be much market for MP af96 items except from ACers. Again all this information is in my first post.

I think someone has missed the point of the Game. if no one crafted teh lining for the High level armor no one would get any armor. unless we are all gonna roll a LGM armor crafter / tailor but then again 15 year old's only think about money!!

wanna know a secret? most AC's i know (including me when I was still playing) have a Tailor as well because it's the only bloody craft that needs TWO crafters before I had my own tailor I told people who wanted high lvl armor: ok, I can do it, just find me a tailor for the liners ... if THEY want armor THEY have to work for it and don't start with bullpoop like: OMG MEIGHT! FOR ALBION!!!
anyway, chretien, the best thing is to roll ya own Tailor or ask in your guild if someone wants to help you out. whining on FH only brings people like me on ya trail

why try and bring him down by stepping all over his post? if you'd rather farm scrolls for your plats i have no problem with it, i doubt chretien or anyone else on these boards for a matter of fact have ANY sort of problem with it. chretien asked ppl to not seel their af96/af45 when they made it, fair request, ppl can disregard it if they want. why do you feel the need to try and make his business even harder than it already is by implicit trying to convince ppl to not bother with it?

Just a thought where those items might come from:

Imagine you're a tailor and get an order by some ACer to craft 20 AF 96 leather chests. You craft them and one of them is a MP. So you think to yourself "Bah, using this one as lining for Chain armor would be a waste, I'll put it on my CM" and craft another one for the ACer.

Well, that's what I would do... and I'd actually buy this stuff (at a reasonable price) too, if I was leveling up an Inf or friar. Af 96 gives you 30 imbue points (2 more than 99% AF 102 stuff) which is nice for a lvl 45ish char currently levelling up.

20x cost would be a bit high tho I'd put it on the CM for like 2x cost.


Anyway, just roll up a tailor alt, it's cheap, doesn't take too much time and saves you a lot of trouble as ACer

Your right, we should all be selfish little *&^%$£, and work for ourselves only, and this will really improve the Prydwen community.
