Im playing beta at 1680x1050 with medium settings at constant 40FPS with:

C2D6600 @ 3.000mhz
3GB DDR2
x1950pro
WXP SP2

assuming its beta, and prolly not every fx implemented (in order to speed up the perfomance) I'd say

C2D + a 8800GT/GTS/GTX/9600GT/9800GTX/ATI3870/ATI3870x2 will be enuff to play release version at highest settings.

It will support both, pretty sure. There will also be a 64bit version, for those with 64bit OS. My old PC is shittier than Tenta's and runs it fine on 1440 x 900 resolution, everything else on medium, shadows off. It definitely would run best with recommended settings or above though.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you have enough RAM. :)

Yep, w/o problem

Running it at 1680x1050 on a 20,5" monitor at medium specs (no filters, with high resolutions im not a fan of them) with an older generation graphic card (x1950pro).
Anything from a G80 8800GTS to the newer G92 cards (new 8800/9xxx) im sure will run the game at max details

Cant say :(

I wouldnt touch windows vista with a pigstick :eek7: but i guess, like in 90% of the games, dx10 would mean a decrease in perfomance and will require a better card.

One thing is for sure, this game is a next gen graphic one. I just hope the release version is well optimized (hi crysis  ) and allows ppl to play it with a wide range of systems just by playing with video settings. This being said, my opinion is that for higher resolutions (1680x1050 and above) you will need at least a medium-to-high-end gcard with 512MB to run it smoothly on max settings

PS: 3GB+ DDR2 is a must

Currently patching etc and gonna try it out on Vista on a new PC. I'll let you know, but it should be supported.

Vista is indeed supported. Even though I wouldn't touch it with a stick, either. :)

Even after I deactivated UAC it still kinda tries to bummer me in the ass... Anyhoo, since it supports DX10 it has to support Vista. So be confident ! :)

I was wondering how my system would cope with AoC.

I have a 3 GHz dual core intel processor, 2 GB RAM and using a GeForce 7300 LE 512MB RAM graphics card running windows XP. The comp is coming upto 2 years old and I was considering a getting a new graphics card (mid range) if that would significantly help performance.

Should be fine after you get that mid-range gfx card. Expect settings at medium-ish though. Performance wise it still requires quite a decent PC.

nearly all the 8x series games are really affordable now cadelin your talking 25 quid for a 8500 it all depends on your budget id def upgrade now tho prices have dropped tons may i recommend a 8800GTS 512 (G92 core) aroudn 140 quid wouldnt bother with the 9800 yet new 9x series cards due out in july that are going to be much better.

I didnt want to spend more than £100 on any upgrade. I knew when I got the PC that the graphics card that came with it wasn't particularly good. Would I even be able to run AoC at the lowest settings (reasonably smoothly) without an upgrade?

What cards would you recommend? Is any 512MB Geforce 8xxx model good?

think you can run it on a 6800 lowest settings, so youll prob be ok, but i wouldnt expect it to look brilliant. I would still suggest you go for a 8800GT pref a 512MB version, prob get one for around 120quid. Although rumors are rife new 9x series cards are coming out in july so prices will drop again, prob quite a bit if they are succesfully launched, if you want to wait. pretty sure AoC will run ok on a 7900 just dont expect it to run with all the frills :)

BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail would be my reccomendation for a budget :)

I'd say take the min specs with a rather large dose of salt.

basically ~

3gb of ram and an 8600+ is min, it shouldnt tax your cpu too much.

8 gig of ram - nice :)

If it's a bit sluggish for me when it's installed I'll bump myself up to 4 gig, only cost £30 to get another 2 identical 6400 sticks now.

Tech forums report that game needs 3GB to run in XP 32bit (max amount of ram for XP SP2) and more than 4GB for Vista 32bit users
