Weird question, but would need a rather throwaway cheap thing to store character sheet, spell lists etc for D&D(etc) pen and paper sessions.

Just wondering what the best option is, or is it a simple case of "get cheap laptop and win" :p

You could always go for a notepad?

Years ago, when I played paper RPGs with mates, one of us who was DM'ing his game decided to computerise it. Was a complete disaster: (a) it ended up being slower than paper & pencil (b) the computer kept throwing out really random results (c) it took away something of the charm of the game mechanics.

If all you want is merely a storage, a cheap laptop will do the job. Just don't use it for combat. Old fashioned dice, paper & pen. The way RPGs ought to be played imo.

you can also get dice rollers for most phones nowadays, and while it takes some of the fun out of throwing them at people, you should never touch other peoples dice as you jinx them, so if you dont have enough or someone forgets some, its a good fallback ;)

Yeah it's more for text resources, spell lists, shops etc. Finding out info on a spell is a bit of a pain in the middle of a battle ;)

I'm not letting a computer roll my 20s for me :p
