Hey guys.

So I did a 5 hour shift at work ysterday and it was non-stop. then I had to close down the counter. (Fishmonger at Tesco) I get home and I ache all over, I mean realy bad pain. Then I get woken up BY a Migraine last night and I've ad the heating on high since I got up at 7 (11:30 now) and I'm still cold and shivery. Also exhausted. Someone confirm these are the symptoms of Flu?

Thanks.

Sounds similar, although when my sisters suffered from it they were too sick to get out of bed.

So perhaps just something flu-like or you have the joy of full blown flu to come. I'm told that when you've got flu you KNOW it. Never had it myself :england:

Dr Trisha Macnair responds

Dr Trisha MacnairFlu often starts like a cold with a sore throat or runny nose - but it soon becomes much worse, and you know something more than a cold has hit you. Symptoms include:

* fever (usually above 38°C/100°F)
* chills
* muscle aches and pain
* severe headache
* weakness and tiredness
* loss of appetite
* sore throat
* cough
* chest pain

Symptoms last about a week

The illness usually lasts about seven to ten days, with the fever and aches improving after two to three days and the cough and sore throat lasting longer. However, some people have symptoms that go on for much longer - weakness and depression sometime last weeks.

Acute pneumonia

Occasionally, flu causes other problems. Very rarely it can cause an acute pneumonia that may be fatal within one to two days, even in healthy young adults. It was this sort of flu pneumonia that was to blame for many of the millions of young adults who died in the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918.

Symptoms in children

In children, flu can cause a slightly different picture. There may be abdominal pain which can be confused with appendicitis, and the fever can cause convulsions.

Rest is best

Until just recently, there were no specific medicines for flu. Most people got better on their own with simple relief for their symptoms. For example:

Rest. The most important thing in flu is to give your body a chance to heal itself by resting. Lie down and sleep if possible.
Regular pain relief with aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen. It's important that children under 16 are not given aspirin because of the risk of triggering a rare but serious brain and liver condition called Reye's syndrome.
Keep well-hydrated with plenty of warm fluids.
Remedies for sore throat, headache and blocked nose.

tada

Maybe YOU can't.

As my good friend NPH would say; Man up! :D

A cold isn't even worth a whisper, not to mention stay out of work. It doesn't exist. It's either a flu or a MAN flu.

In case of flu, you just curse and go about your business with a big ol' "F.O." sign on your head. With a MAN flu you do the same, but the f*cking doctor makes you stay home so women don't get it and die.

Yes, i can't stand "oh poor me, helpz, i'm so sick" men when they got the flu :eek:

Weak!

I dont understand i always just thought flu was just another name for a cold......or rather you either had a slight case of the sniffles or a cold/flu....

I believe it goes: Sniffles, cold, flu, MAN FLU!, death.

Or for women and pansy men; sniffles, cold, flu, viral flu, death, MAN FLU!

Also applies to pansy men who whine to their wives that "i'm shiiiick" :flame:

Real men are either dead or fine. Or have the man flu. Which is worse then death as shown above.

Influenza can actually be dangerous, I get a flu jab (bet Seel gets one too cause of his diabetes) because if I got it as an athsmatic it could develop into pneumonia and hospitalise me.

Flu jab?

Not sure what you mean, but if you mean kind of an "accelerated flu", then yes, diabetes+man flu is a killer alright :D

Then you've never had flu then. Just a bad cold.

Im not getting into an argument with you. Thats your sole purpose for existence, so instead, I will just declare that you have indeed had flu at some point and were such a double hard bastard, you managed to not only get out of bed, but went to work aswell.

There, that saved 20 pages of you arguing.

No, i'm just saying people are different and can perform differently in different situations. And no, i didn't go to work, but went to the shops to get bread 'n such, as i was hungry. It didn't kill me though. As it won't. Doctro told "no work", so, no work.

A flu or cold doesn't knock me down like it does some people. And also saying that those men, who get all whiny about a flu, are snivelling babies.

By the way, YOU are the one who started arguing about MY experience with flu/cold and saying "You've not been sick". Aren't you a lovable little troll *pats head*

Using "you jsut argue" when starting the argument, is just so dear and sweet.

So in conclusion;

Lol, I really opened a can of worms. Thank feck for the combination of codiene and caffeine (sp?) kept me going for a 9 hour shift yesterday.
