SWG anyone?

Just curious, is there any organised group of players (maybe a guild) from mid/exc that are gonna play SWG? Is there a Player association already formed?
While daoc is certainly good, swg seems to offer more opportunities for roleplaying etc so it has me interested

I'd say SWG offers no more opportunities than DAoC in regards to roleplaying.
What it is likely to have more of than DAoC though is annoying twats and the SW equivalent of DAoCs Lheghoolass, ie. Daaarthh Wadder, Luky Skuwolker, Obiiiiiiii-Wan Kenooobiii etc. running around /y GIVF JEDIPOWAH FFS!!1111 PL ME TO JEDI NOW PLZ!!! KK?!?!?!!!1111

If it is roleplaying you are after, I think UO is still the safest bet.
Or a textbased MUD.

You may be right - im hoping to join a roleplay server tho ^^ call me an optimist

What i mean by more opportunities to roleplay is primarily the fact that you dont have to kill kill kill to advance in your chosen profession, as is the case in daoc =/ even tho you may be playing a less combat oriented class such as a healer or minstrel etc - it seems theres more to do, more ways to enjoy oneself and more varied goals.

Haven't read up on the skillsystem in SWG, but if it is like you gain skill by doing then yes, it might prove a better platform for RPing.

If they see fit to dedicate a server as a RolePlaying server, then I might just take a look at it.

nah I think SwG is overhyped by all the hardcore starwars fans.
Dont get me wrong, im a great fan of starwars too, but i think this game will get old v.fast, and i agree with Pixie.Pebr.

..and besides.. fantasy pawns Sci-fi.

Im going for World of Warcraft.. in fact im buying a new computer just to be able to play that game.

hehe got 2 rl m8`s on the SWG beta also.. both say its well. plain crap. thats only first impressions. one of em stopped testing it cos he got very bored. he moved to PS. the other is still playing it because he wants to see what it has to offer but at the moment he still sticks with the same comment. it needs alot of work still ;p

If someone have played UO and daoc after that he can also says that uo was boring. (Remember fishing? ).
IF u want to be MACROer and gain all skills in very short period of time- then yes, swg might be boring.
BUT if u feels that experience is a part of role playing then u will like swg.

WoW isnt even in beta yet . Just wait till it hits beta atleast .

Only thing i think is wrong with swg, if im correct that is. Is that to be able to actually do PvP you have to choose between the empire or the rebels.

Nah - you will be able to take bounty-hunting missions on other players, duel them, go to battlegrounds, and also attack those who are openly declared as members of an enemy faction (in the begining only rebel or empire but this will change). Im not in beta tho so this is what ive read/heard.
