ow :( I'd like to watch it, and wave a giant foam finger about and have hot dogs and beer but it's on too damn late for the likes of meeee!!

I just have to satisfy myself cheering on the contestants to wogan's perfect recall *shivver* but tbh the foam finger, Hdogs and beer don't really work with that format...

Only upside to this game was the Manning didn't get another ring and that he put the final nail in his own coffin

In the UK we just got regular crappy commercials in between every fucking single bit of play. What a sorry excuse for a sport.

The Who were alright though.

The Lions - Browns game in regular season was better
YouTube- Sound FX: Matthew Stafford mic'd up

The Pats - Colts game in regular season was better
YouTube- Patriots VS Colts 2009

The Steelers - Packers game in regular season was better
YouTube- Highlights Week 15 - Pittsburgh Steelers vs Green Bay Packers

The Packers - Cardinals game in the playoffs was better
YouTube- NFL Wild-Card 2010: Dansby fumble recovery. Cardinals vs Packers

The game had two highlights being the onside kick and the one turnover of the game. If you had actually followed this season you'd know that the Super Bowl didn't live up to the expectations. With Brees and Manning you would think that they would dish up some huge plays and let the dragons fly, but it never happened

DISCLAIMER - You may find this offensive

what suprised me was the lack of errors during the game up until the last quarter.. the interception was the game winner, very poor coverage by the colts. but as a spectacle v other superbowls.. was great, fast paced with lots of completed passes. was over quite quickly too coz of it heh.

now that the saints got it out of their system.. can the eagles win it again next year plz? always so close... (easily the most constistent play off contenders in last 30 years or so yet 1 superbowl and mega fail)

not even remotly close!

yeh yeh some random sites cliam up to 1 billion viewers world wide,
thats likely a bunch of cocky pop.. the number of american viewers who
tuned in was roughly 100mill now if you add 40-50 mill to that of "over sea"
viewers then you have your realistic number.

Now compare that to the 715million that watched the Fifa 2006 WC final.

I Like the NFL and I love watching the Superbowl..but when it comes to pure numbers, and logic...?

it dosent begin to come close to the Number of people who play or watch Football.

I'm fairly sure more people tune in to watch Man utd vs Arsenal twice a year.

;//edit, from wiki, so not he most reliable but:

Outside North America, Super Bowl XLII was distributed by the NFL and NFL International. Overall, the game was available to an estimated potential audience of one billion viewers within 223 countries and territories.[51] However, viewing figures outside North America rose only marginally on previous years with an estimated 10 million people tuning in from outside the USA, Canada and Mexico for an overall global audience in the region of 114 million. Dick Stockton and Sterling Sharpe were the announcers for the International broadcast.[52]

I though Sky's coverage was really good except Cecil seemed to have a lisp this week which pissed me off. Two brave decisions paid off to settle the game the coach showed some balls and got lucky both times it was a good game all in all though.

Superbowl XLIII was watched by 155m people worldwide. Man United v Arsenal gets around 80m people world wide.

I think he meant that it was the most viewed sport event in USA. 106mill.. which is a fact.

The WC final is not a single day event. It is a tournament. The Superbowl is ONE game consisting of the AFC and the NFC champions. Much like the Europa League vs. the Champions League winners playing one another for a new trophy. If you try to convince me that the Super Bowl is a tournament I'll have to block you and neg rep you.. Hard

the NFL is built up more or less like any other tournement out there

with group stages, play offs and a final...
