Sudden exit to Windows?

So, a friend of me had this problem before, but he dont remember how he fixed it, its realy anoying. whenever i use ventrilo and daoc at the same time, it can go 1 hour, half an hour, 3 hours, then my UI starts flickering and a few mins after that i instantly exits to windows. is it my graphic drivers that need a update or what can i do to stop it?

I get this about once a month. No idea why although it is usually at time when there is large inc or during laggy fights.

Same here. Upgraded video card, but had same problem again.

Try downloading the latest drivers for your card, then un-install your current drivers, then install the new ones.

Had a similar problem and it was due to my memory was running on to low voltage, increased it slightly and now it never happens.

In the BIOS setup, but dont change anything if you dont know what you are doing. Btw all computers dont have these settings

I just think its odd that it happens when i use the combination of ventrilo and daoc. when im not using vent i dont got any problems at all (or rarely, think it happened once or twise)

are u using an over lay to see who is speaking on vent if so it could be a dx conflict as the over lay and daoc might be calling the same file and cause it to fall over

also go in to your event manager and post whats happening and ill try helping more

i have this same problem, it happens even if i'm just playing daoc. or indeed any other game.

The problem you are experiencing is probably due to DirectX - they both use parts of the DirectX system and they overlay and can cause problems - it's worth experimenting which to log on first, for example log on vent before DAoC or vice versa.

I find having vent logged on first is better for me - when I alt tab sometimes I get repeat convo's for like 10 seconds before it rights itself if I log vent after DAoC.

What gfx card do you have btw? Up to date drivers can matter, I'm sure you know the sites:

As said above, it is always best to remove completely your old drivers before installing (and most of us I'm sure don't bother being lazy gits). There is a specific removal tool for ATI card drivers, can't remember it off the top of my head but if you need to know PM me.

DirectX9c looks like it will be around for a while (I'm assuming you have it), as DirectX10 will be Vista-based I think. Hope your problem will be solved!

hmm updated my grfx card driver and its made it worse, even when not running vent? anything else i can try?

When penlid and finche had problems, remember especially penlid always dropping on inc in agramon - they tweaked the properties of there network card and it resolved the problem. Sorry really cant remember which property it was they altered.

But you can get to the list by looking at the properties of your network connection. On the general tab click configure, next to where it has your NIC model, then go to the advanced tab.

Maybe finche or penlid can remember what it was they tweaked and post up here.

Other thing might be to set vent not to use directx (just a checkbox), you wont have some of the effects available (like making somebody quiter), but if you arn't grouped with Pio then you can live without it.
