Heh, tbh I'd rather play on a server with 3/4 people than a server filled with the cocks I played against tonight.

For some reason, some n00b was convinced I was "cheaeting" because I killed him 8/9 rounds in a row (ra3 natch).

That there was no effort required to do this was beside the point...

aye. Cheats will have accounts siezed which i find rather good. i hated being accused of cheating (granted this was a Jolt HPB server some years ago)

if i was in the UK i'd gladly pay. unfortunatley my connection sucks :(

RA3?

RA3?????????

Ra3 is the easiest feckin gametype in the world. I actually find it difficult to find challenging opponents on public RA3 servers, as mainly it's casual players (or players that are so bad that they appear to be casual players).

Try playing on Blueyonder's RA3 servers - you're guaranteed a doddle of a game there as most of the players there have a skill level akin to that of a blind newborn baby.

;)

And I'm a public admin for all the public RA3 and CPM RA3 servers on BW, and have extensive first-hand knowledge of all the current cheats possible, so ph34r.

;)

I never see anyone on BW q3 servers, except for the ctf one.Neverdid before p2p either , so not likely now :(
And its a shame, as I like a game of Q3 now and then. I guess you'd call me a casual player though Sar :)

Yeah, You pay for Servers which hardly ever lag now, there will be hardly any cheaters now (What cheaters gonna waste £12/24 just to get caught?) and also you get Admins who will be there 99.9% of the time, i would rather have all that for £12 than have a freebie server full of pricks

So that means that poor people are pricks because they play on freebie servers?!?

Gsp's simply cannot continue to survive using the free server model, they are all going to go p2p or go bust. Afaik BY is planning to introduce it's p2p in a couple of months, jolt are gonna go p2p sooner or later.

Sooner or later you will have to pay, and I think 12 quid is a bloody good deal and to have played on BW for 4 years and be so cheap that you can't give them 12 quid seems plain rude. BW and it's staff have gone through so much to keep bw running over the past 4 years including some very worrying financial troubles and you can't even spare 12 quid. If the servers end up empty (which i doubt) then you can think of it as paying for all the enjoyment you gained over the past 4 years, it's not as if your gonna miss 12 quid, as a student I was spending more than that a day in the bar.

Oh and one more thing, Wireplay lasted so long first time round because it was p2p, when they opened it up to everyone for free it got crapper and crapper then died.

Dont know where i heard it but isnt BY closing and arnt BW going to host there gamin service??

What worries me is that with all the servers hidden behind the subscriber firewall, casual gamers will either think that BW have disappeared or won't even notice that certain servers aren't visible anymore.

How do you expect to get new customers if your product is invisible to the public?

Someone suggested having full public access for on certain servers for certain periods of time just to show people that BW is still going and how good their servers are. Seems like an excellent idea to me.

Who's to say that BW won't collapse on itself because its not open to new blood?

Fear not Summo. I saw just earlier this very night of at least two ikle servers in each and every game/mod that sat their with the hostname, "BarrysWorld.com Can't see our servers? - See our..." Then it cut off.

But, the message is there, more so for ASE users who can read the whole thing.

I think that those who are opposed to the P2P system aren't necessarily tight on a jewish scale and don't really care about the business model as a whole. Its more to do with principals.

Anyway, as soon as I get paid I'm signing up.

Good stuff! That'll help for a while, until new people come along who have never heard of BarrysWorld.

Why Mellow? (or is it sarcasm) as stated you only buy a license for the software. Its just as normal/odd to say that people have to pay to play as it is to say that companies have to pay so that there games are played online. In the long run I believe it will just as normal for companies to pay as it is to pay to play.

To even suggest that the people responsible for making/publishing a piece of game software should supply the entire planet with servers for the public to use is impossible and rediculous. Companies aren't a charity they are there to make a profit. Simple as that.

Moaning about the way things are done and have mostly always been done is also stupid and pointless. If you disagree with paying for a gaming service (either monthly or yearly) then cancel your internet connection now.

lol, first of I am not saying they should provide servers for everybody.

What I am saying is that devellopers might want to subsidies a few (or a lot :) ) servers so that people will play (and buy) their game (esp if its mainly develloped for the internet)
Companies are not a charity but good PR and advertising are nice things.

Don't think that I am saying that there should not be p2p, the best thing imho is a mix between p2p (your tv license) and cc (?company contribution :eek6: ) broadcasters paying the cable company for the right to pass their signal.
By doing so it will make companies feel more responsible for the develloping of a game. And will make sure that not just one game will dominate the whole server world :D

/edit am tired so hope this will make sense lol
