Having small problems with the internet. First of all when I turn my PC on .. it takes 5~ atleast for the internet to start working. Now i assume thats the routers problem .. its one of those cable boxes which also work for the TV, telephone etc. The other problem is i am randomly unable to browser the internet, when i know im connected as im either on msn or in game. Is this packet loss? is it a browser problem?(using ff4). Its sooo annoying though and stressful as i know im connected to the internet but no webpages will load up. Sometimes when i clear my cookies etc it will work, othertimes im spamming reload and it will come on after a minute or 2.

is it now the warm weather is coming on or was it always that way?

mad packet loss is either a faulty transceiver or bad cables usually, but also make sure your box has lots of airflow around it.

Sounds like there are too many connections ongoin. A lot of "home user" hardware can't take it (~100 connections orso). Autostarting some torrent program? More people using the same connection?

I would look at a DNS issue first of all. See if you can ping a website which you can not access. If the ping comes back with an IP it looks like routing if your 80 is the issue. If no reply then your DNS server has gone down and you can try setting google or similar to be your static DNS, and try it again.

Okay I have seemed to fix this issue by following some simple commands with going into ipv4 settings and such, putting some other numbers in here and there .. and its working like a normal router .. so I believe it was a DNS issue.

Thanks guys :)

Have to bring this up again, I thought i had sorted it, but randomly the problem has come back.

We have 2 Pcs next to each other, and 1 is lagging in DAOC, the other isnt. They are positioned right next to each other, which is right next to the router (both wireless).

Im convinced its a DNS issue like your saying, but how can it just be mine? Ive tried renewing my IP and such but still have problems ;(

Try using OpenDNS instead of your ISP's DNS.
OpenDNS | DNS-Based Web Security

Primary: 208.67.222.222
Secondary: 208.67.220.220

Try changing your wifi channel to some other number. It could be that a neighbour is using the same channel but on their own connection.
I'd set the DNS servers in your router's permanent config.
I'd also set the router as a DHCP server to give out IP addresses to connected devices. Then whenever you release/renew your DHCP lease on your PC, you'll be picking up the DNS and gateway settings from the router. That way, if one PC is working correctly, it means the other one should be as well.
If you find that one PC later develops a problem, you might want to consider the wifi interface of that PC as a possible source of a fault.

What make/model is your router?

Its a VDSL router which is also used for 4 other TV and internets (mainly TVs). Its the only reason why theres no ports free as all the TVs in the house need to be connected to it - therefore we are wireless.

It looks something like this

High_Speed_VDSL2_Router_STV504.jpg

I have changed my DNS settings (through adapter properties, IPv4 etc) .. I hope this will work. Its jsut weird my gfs PC is right next to me, and im getting great lags and she is fine ;x
