This weekend I've been volunteering working on my local canal again. Anyway, I parked up this morning opposite the entrance to someone's driveway, but left loads of room. Its here, on the south side of the road on the top right corner of the pale field:

Google Maps

Anyhow, there was at least 30 feet to get a car in and out of the driveway, which is plenty. So I finish parking (about 2 inches from the fence), get out of the car, to be confronted by a 30-something woman asking me to move my car as "I can't get out of my drive". Somewhat disbelievingly, I looked at the Saturn V sized space and repeated her statement to her. I wouldn't have minded moving a bit, but she then went off on one, calling me an idiot.

Cue 5 minutes of her calling me a retard, idiot, dickhead, while I tried (she continually spoke over me) to get into her head that if she wanted me to move my car, she'd need to apologise for calling me names. She then reversed her car out of her driveway (reversing sensors ffs) without incident, and with easily 2 feet of space between the back of her car and the side of mine. Then the argument changed to "can't get the car back in". Threats to call the husband then followed, meanwhile I'm trying not to laugh, then the waterworks almost began followed swiftly by pure hatred, "baby still in the house", "gonna call the police", "your car is crap mine is better", etc. Complete and total histrionics from a person entirely devoid of logic.

To cap it all, she threatened damage to my car while I was gone - bit of a mistake that, I know where you live, you don't know where I live. She continued babbling on about whatever.

Anyway I just ignored her from then, and fucked off down to do some shovelling. A bit of thought 20 minutes later and I moved the car (I didn't want to cause trouble for the canal society)

Why do people behave like this? She had acres to move her car. It isn't her street. Unprovoked, she calls me names. She can't drive. She threatens my property.

Fucking stupid bint.

Wij might have been a bit offensive about it, but I agree that it is a possiblity.
A woman gets hysterical and flies off the handle for no apparent reason?
She could either be pregnant or suffering a visit from Aunt Flo.

Or she could just be having a bad day and no-one to take it out on. Congratulations on doing your bit for the day. :)

The key phrase is right there; "baby in the house". Turns women into lunatics.

Well my car was reversed into by a woman in a Freelander and she had reversing sensors. Her excuse for hitting me was "my sensors didn't beep" so basically she wasn't even looking, just whacked it in reverse and hoped the sensors would do the rest.

To top it all off, she smashed my rear light, £108 + VAT from Volvo, but I thought I won't sort it myself, why should I. So I get the car taken away by my insurance companies repairers and 2 weeks later it comes back. Because the claim is ongoing I had to pay for the repairs.......£451 worth of repairs. Apparently it needed paint and all sorts of other things. Utter bullshit, total con.

Pic of damage attached.

For some reason people think the area of road outside their house belongs to them, even if they have a drive. I have come across people like that before and one of them was one of my neighbours, she went off on one and called her husband out. In the end I spoke to the husband and he was wondering what all the fuss was about and told his wife to calm down and stop being stupid.

With people like that you just have to grin and bare it, no common sense at all.

Depends on the situation tbh. I have a neighbour around the corner who's a car dealer; so he tends to fill his own driveway and then start to fill up our cul-de-sac with cars, especially at the weekend. He's actually doing nothing illegal, but I admit I find it annoying to come around the corner and find half the road filled with his cars. Not annoying enough to rant about it, but I still find it rather self-centered.

Aye it can annoy.

Stupid bastards across the road decided they would park their cars outside my house Xmas morning so all their visitors could park outside their house, which in turn meant all our family had to park half way up the street.

Even so I aren't sticking up for any lady driver. :D

I couldn't park outside my own house one time, so I parked up the road. Didn't move it for a few days, because I had nowhere to be, and it's not really ever an issue parking on our street.

Got a phone call from the police. The neighbour had reported a "stolen car" dumped outside their house, and wanted it towed.

Stolen. Right... and parked with a steering lock? A car that you have no doubt walked past a hundred times before?

Lou do you want the second and third Joe Abercrombie books? Samm has finished them all now. Second book is with her mate in Wolverhampton though so don't know when I could post it if you do.

*laughs* I love it when a group of chaps get together and blame the menstrual cycle and pregnancy for a woman's temperament....

I found this which had me almost pissing my pants with laughter...

Jed Diamond - The Irritable Male Syndrome

and this one also much much funnier

http://www.enotalone.com/article/4840.html

Specifically:

The first is hypersensitivity. The women who live with these men say things like:

* "I feel like I have to walk on eggshells when I'm around him."
* "I never know when I'm going to say something that will set him off."
* "He's like a time bomb ready to explode, but I never know when he'll go off."
* "Nothing I do pleases him."
* "When I try to do nice things, he pushes me away."
* "He'll change in an eye-blink. One minute, he's warm and friendly. The next, he's cold and mean."

Joke on the side... yes boys you do suffer from bouts of unexplainable temperament just like us girleys :)....Only now they have given it a name so good bye PMT and hello IMS!!
