It's actually fun, if you don't drink their drinks(usually stronger the n usual places to get you more drunk), don't get into the girls "flirt" trap(no you're NOT getting any, they want cash) and have fun with your friends while watching a few puppies go around.

I hated the only time i got taken to a lapdancing club, it felt cheap and all the girls were overly pushy. It probably doesn't help that i've known quite a few "dancers" in real life and much prefer talking to people than having random pairs of inflated norks shoved in my face. I couldn't even concentrate on getting drunk with new girls coming over every minutes and hamfistedly attempting to flirt with me.

As for burlesque, there are probably less than 1% of performers out there who are actually doing anything interesting, the rest are just average looking chubby goth chicks pretending not to be strippers to get attention on myspace
