I found this in my house yesterday, it looked like a grain of rice.... until it started moving.

It's not a maggot, looks like a larva of some type. Any ideas?

All kinds of larva/maggot/whatnot things. Old grains, moldy piece of meat that fell somewhere unseen, carried in by clothing/boots. Unless you start seeing more, nothing of it.

Could be a moth. Get rid of that ASAP!

We had them for a while in our cupboards and they were a pest to get rid of. See the odd one every now and then and they get smashed

One way to find out, interrogate it! stick pins in the little bastard while shouting WHAT ARE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU? when he answers you will know what it is.

It's clearly after those crumbs you haven't bothered to clean up.

Oh... and it's a caterpillar with no legs.

At least it wasn't in your half eaten apple! Once found one in a meringue I'd just eaten half of.
