As an update; I've taken to asking for groups in my finest 'leet speak'. I do love taking the piss out of them in this way... they seem to think that's how I actually talk, which really gets me laughing!

So a conversation would go like this:
'Hi, do you have space in your group for a <whatever> at all?'
'soz'
'o i c'
'soz m8'
'r i 2 lo???? k m8 np safe'
'kk'
'c ya'
'l8r'
