Strange error message when startind DAoC

After I have typed in my game password and agreed to the code of conduct, I press enter but I get a strange error message as follows :

Error Starting Program - The GAME.DLL file is linked to missing export DINPUT.DLL: DirectInputCreateEx.

Haven't got a clue what this means, so if someone could help me out here I would really appreciate it.

My bet is your Direct X version is missing/badly installed.

It looks like dark ages is looking for the direct input DLL, which is the part of Direct X which runs keyboard/mouse etc stuff, and not finding it.

Yes, that was the problem. I had only just formatted my hard drive before installing daoc again so I only had Direct X version 5 installed. Downloaded the latest version and stopped getting that error message.
