Have any of you thought about (or actually have done) doing it?

I was mulling over holiday destinations and nothing is really grabbing me. However today in Skirtland we had blustery snow, hail and crazy black clouds that inspired me to go to the States to see and photograph Tornados and other extreme weather.

Seems like reasonable money for a week (plus flights on top) for a unique experience?

there are lots of companies who offer these deals you just have to make sure you go with a good one thats gonna get you close to the show! however you also have to remember you might not even see one. and dont forget you will be travelling all day for silly amounts of hours for a few minutes thrill

personally id do it id love to see a real tornado but not too close

Yeah it looks great but from what I've seen on discovery et al it's 90% "yawn" and 10% "oooommmmmgggggg wwwwtttfffff" and that's with pretty favourable editing to make it look more exciting for tv...

Watched that Channel 4 programme about this on 4OD the other day. Apart from the fact the guy they were following was a bit of a dork (and a selfish one at that), it did seem like there were more interesting ways to get an andrenaline rush and a good photo to me. Meh, each to their own.
