Some memories that come up after reading this thread:
I started my life as Thorild the Berserker and after running around in Vasudheim for a while and killing some of the mobs there I met a chap called Ribald, who still plays I think, and he was a healer. After a while we got another member in the group and went to find Silverscale Draklings to kill. We were there for quite a while before the whole camp came. That pesky scout spotted us beating on one of his friends...
Ribald runs, jumps and manage to survive with almost no life left and comes back to rezz us.
A few levels later I realized that I wasn't going to be über as a Berserker so I deleted him and created my thane. When the time came to go kill Squirt the wind wisp I died twice and at around 5am I got a hold of another thane, think he was level17 then, and his name was Thorild! He came to help me with the quest and after that we played quite alot for a few levels the next days/mornings.
As for times when I have just checked out the world...here are a few of those:
* Entering Muspelheim and the entire group stood beside a lava river. Everyone dared eachother to jump into the hot, red, lava.
* Running a delivery task at a very lowlevel straight from Mularn over the mountains to Svasud Faste. It was a horrible fog and a snowstorm and everything around me was very scary.
* When I first saw those VERY deep ravines in Skona. With VERY bad Wolverines.
* First time to Emain....didnt know what it was or where I was. Everything was so green and pretty compared to the dark of Midgard.
* When starting an Alt on Excalibur and in Albion. First time to Camelot was indeed a very cool experience. The whole of Albion had(at that time) alot more spell effects and I was amazed by all the colours and the wide open Salisbury Plains.
I really like this game and still find myself taking screenshots when I find a particulary nice spot in the world. Mythic may have some mistakes but overall I think the good things takes the front seat. And they are still patching this cash-cow....
