While waiting at some lights today a big fly landed on my windscreen, washing itself and doing fly things. As the lights changed to green I slowly accelerated, glancing at the fly to see what it was doing.

Up to about 10mph it carried on as usual.

At about 20mph it set rock hard, not moving.

30mph - no change

40mph - no change. At this point I was doing a silly little giggle.

50mph - visibly shaking in the airflow, holding on for dear life

I got to 60mph before the little bugger gave up, hopefully it performed a graceful pirouette in the air before heading off to gorge on some shit.

60mph is pretty fucking good for a fly tbh.

The spider in my driver's side wing mirror has been there for ages. Regularly survived 70+. Little bastard. Catches a LOT of flies though.

Oh noes, think of the children!!!

NB. I did this with a thrush stuck under my wiper blade once, which was a lot more unpleasant. The motorcyclist stuck in the radiator for five miles was even worse.
