just brought CS:S and its gonna be ages till i can play it at this rate!

varying from 1kb a sec to 40kb on a 3.6 MBps connection

Oh and its stops downloading at random for no apparnt reason

Not noticed anything myself, I updated TF2 and downloaded Trackmania today and the speed was as fast as its ever been.

Never had it stop randomly either.

It's the UK net, rather than fixing their shit lines British ISP's throttle everyones speeds at primetime.

Same here in Dubai. The main ISP Etisalat claims 2Mb up 4Mb down but I never get anything over 120K. They choke everything so the backbone submarine cables they lease bandwidth from can cope. Cheap bastards make a fortune but do nothing for their customers.

Dubai for all its glitz and glamourous new developements has the worst interenet services in the developed world.

CS Source is super slow in the evening to download, once you get past 5pm GMT the americans start getting online and your DL speed will be super shit.

I would personally set your machine to DL before you go to work/out for the day, it will be much faster

See you see alot of people whining about isp's throttling people so stop buying lines with "Unlimited" bandwidth? Unlimited bandwidth is just code for (leeching bastard paradise) its no wonder they throttle the unlimited packages after 6pm.

I've had an 8mb/s office line from ADSL24 (don't have cable in my area) I get a 45gig limit peak and 300gig off peak per month.

I've had it since january and its not been throttled once after 6pm (hasn't dropped below 4000kb/s via speed tests after 6pm - none peak time its 6000-6200kb/s)

Speed test done just now while utorrent is open: Download Speed: 5870 kbps (733.8 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 608 kbps (76 KB/sec )

Stop going with shit isp's

77013 kbps (9626.6 KB/s) and upload speed 65016 (8127 KB/s)

Or in MB: 9,4mb/s download and 7,93mb/s upload

*sniff* going to bloody miss this internet when I move in a month

p.s. to all the "choose a different isp" people. In UK BT own everything so they are the people who throttle, that surely means all the other ISP's will be throttled as they just rent the lines.

The few companies who have their own lines may offer less/none throttling, however cant say for sure.

Telewest/Virgin have their own lines which is nice for DL'ing loads, but thats during the night. They cap your ass like a motherfucker during the day. I'm DLing Diablo 2 at 12.5kb/s.

aye english lines are bollocks.. think the best we have in england atm is 24mb in london or something like that.. there has been talks however of putting fibre down in england (which will put us on par with sweden for a short term... until the bastards get something new )
