hi,

I got bored of playing WoW, and a friend said to try dark age of camelot out. Am just starting out but am a bit lost with what to do. have started out as a mystic and am now level 4 will be level 5 this evening, its not that easy to solo, (well not as much as WoW) and nobody seems to want to group, seems a bit anti social at times :-(

Can anyone offer me some help as to wear the best place to level and explore is, and if anyone is around the same level and would like to group with me it would make things seem more fun.

well for the start.. lvl-ing solo at low lvl especialy mystic is baad... woot can i say.. the best lvl-ing with no add's u can find it near aegirham this is the place where u wanna lvl first. after u reach the lvl 5 i advice u make some /task which u can obtain them from guard's @tower's and aegirham. next thing u wanna do is join a guild as joining a guild u will find out more about the game and maybe get some help ofc. to join a guild just flag u r self as looking for guild. usefull inforamtion about quest and exp quest u can find on warcry. this is woot i have in mind for now. btw wellcome on DAOC:)

Unfortunately, at the low levels, there isn't all that much grouping available. Try doing the quests that the guy by the tower at Mularn gives, they are good experience, explain the game well, and should get you a decent way towards level 10.

The best advice is to probably get yourself in a guild as soon as possible, as then some people may log in alts to group with you.

Hello and Welcome to Dark Age of Camelot :)

Hopefully you will find leveling to be easier when you are past lvl 5 and have chosen a class ( Mythics can pick between Runemaster, Spiritmaster, Warlock [Catacombs required] and Bonedancer [Shrouded Isles required], note that classes available depends on what race you picked, for example if you are a dwarf you cannot become a bonedancer, spiritmaster nor a warlock :) etc.

Sadly there is a very low flow of new players into DAoC so there wont be many people to grp up with on lower levels. Like mentioned before you can try out tasking ( /s task to a named guard ), always used to be good and fast exp in the good ol' days and especially if you are a class with speed chant you can get them done really fast. There is alot of places to explore, aegirhamn zone is designed for lvl 1-20, but if you have the Catacombs expansion you can explore the deep dungeons and do the many quests there, personally I dont like Catacombs at lower levels but might be worth a look anyway. If you are more into dungeons you can try the tomb of Nisse ( lvl 9-19 or so) for the fun of it, located in Gotar.

What I think you should do is look around for a nice and friendly guild that can help you out with tips and perhaps some low level equipment. Dont hesitate asking for help, theres alot people that are friendly if you act polite and dont nag and beg.

Some ranting here but hopefully you had some use of reading this :)

Welcome to DAoC my friend, check the names below and say Hi when you see me about, always willing to see new players given a helping hand.

As some have said, find a nice friendly guild, and chat away to your hearts content, get stuck and try /advice to see if one of us advisors is about, or try PMing one of your chosen class for tips.

If you have catacombes, thats a great place to level alone.

Check the "Newbie" section for tips and tricks!

Above all, enjoy your toon, my recomendation for your first play is a bonedancer, nice n easy and gets better each level :)

will try and say hello to a few of you :)

looks like i will be online tommorrow, have a few broadband problems i need to sort out.

Might try out a bonedancer and see what it is like, i thought of playing a warlock ( as i had one in WoW, i know warlocks are totally differant in DAOC) but reading some of the other boards people dont seem to like them that much

The enemy sure hate them, even more than they hate bonedancers and dark SMs. :)

Welcome to Snowy Midgard

You've read all the posts I hope and see that we're a friendly bunch :)

A bonedancer or Warlock is a good choice for a Mystic as they can solo fairly well (sorry to say it's true what people are saying about low level groups).

If you look for the Sarumans Hand guild, contact me there (Tantalia, Tashin, Kevralyn, Korgano, Pyper, Karelia) and I will, like many others, be glad to assist you.

You can get help from players by simply finding out who has their advisor flag on with /who advice and then sending them a message or even just /who <class> and asking a more experienced player of your character class.

Tried Wow..it was ok but TOO EASY to solo, DAOC is MUCH more fun.

if you don't try the catacombs instances dungeons, you can try these:
Nisses Lair level 11 - 20
Vendo Caverns 17-29
Cursed Tomb 17 - 29
Varulvhamn 27 - 40
Spindelhalle 33+

All numbers are approximate :)

Have fun

Not only the enemy hates them, most of Midgard dislikes warlocks.

Play what char you enjoy playing, not what char is acceptable to the "1337" to play.
