not quite sure why you have qouted me for this, i merely pointing out that bugz wasnt imaginative when he ripped of FF7

The quoting made it look a bit bad, I agree (but check your rep info so you know what I meant ^^ ), but basically I tend to agree with what you wrote there, just I'd have used different words, cause - as I posted below - ofc I don't know what Bugz wrote in his essay =)

Bugz, that's what I meant aswell. The difference between own imagination and stealing stuff is not always that clear, thus my example of fantasy literature in general =) So I'm not gonna judge your imagination, but I can say that sometimes children are just reproducing what they see, which is not really good for their own imagination =)

That's two words. Counting is hard I agree =/

If you had read my post properly (obviously not) you'd understand that I did not just write the opening scene as I saw it. I would show you the work but I don't have it. But going by your 'oh-so-clever' logic (I lie - it's totally shit logic), each mmorpg is mugging off the older mmorpg's by stealing their ideas too? Ohhh and biographies - they take experiances and put them into words. We CANNOT be having that. Have you grasped the point yet?

:)

its still god damn ripping off, you didnt get inspired by it you said it was very much related to the opening scenes. you played the game and thought, "oh cool idea, ill use that" and thats ripping of when you do it like that. oh and how clever of bugz, biopraphies - they have either been granted permission by the person or the person is dead. a biography isnt trying to tell a story as if it was its own, its telling another person, or what it might be,'s story.

i dont know what you wrote or not, and frankly i dont care coz im pulling the grown up card and putting you to bed, nn bugz.
/edit
heres the good night story

my first comment was ment to be taken with a smile, be offended as much as you want, anger is usually hard to control in the younger stages of life

If you noticed my post, you'd see a distinct smile at the end too. I took your post in joking gesture and replied with a joking gesture & replied with the same tone you did.

Age isn't that impressive if you have such a low mental age you know :)

And ofcourse, let's not quickly move away from this discussion. You didn't look at the MMORPG one. If WoW uses 'x' feature of DAoC (obviously not the PvP one xD), but refines it, adds a personal touch and looks at it from it's own mind (aka. that of the developers), is that ripping off or simply, in a word, inspiration? Perhaps i was too bland in my first post but obviously, I did not sit there and go 'Cloud jumps off the big red train,' as my opening line. I simply re-told parts of it that inspired me, using my own tone, imagination, characters etc. etc.

There's a big difference between inspiration & 'ripping off' to be honest - if it is hard to find.

Meanwhile back on topic ....

There are millions of people all over the world who play computer games. There are maybe a dozen or so high profile killings/ murders which could be associated with computer game violence.
I think if the risks of computer games influencing peoples behaviour was anything greater than insignificant then lets face it, western society would have degenerated to the level of the stone age by now.
The hoodies hanging around street corners stabing and robbing people are the ones NOT playing computer games.
I think the idea of violent images seen on computer games or on TV/ DVD or films has been vastly over-inflated.

When I was a kid I used to sit down in front of the telly and watch Tom and Jerry cartoons. Have you ever seen how violent those cartoons were? It didnt turn me into a clock-tower sniper.

Society faces far greater dangers from alcohol and drug abbuse than it ever will from somebody playing computer games. Indeed an argument could be presented that due to poverty and the lack of a PC in the poorest of familes homes is a contributing factor to the issues of violence/ crime in our society.
