Hi!
I dont know so i gotta ask someone what to do.

Started some months after daoc was released on alb\exc.
Played for almost 2 years and got bored. Then i played WOW from US beta untill yesterday. I was starting to think back on daoc and how i missed it but the thing is... is it still fun?

My plan is to this time roll a norse\thane on mid\exc.
The reasons is that i wanna play mid is simply because i think its cooler to play on mid rather than alb. I do se myself more as a mid in mind than an alb.

So the questions:

1)Do i NEED cata\toa\si to lvl my character and still get grps. Tried to lvl on albion after cata came and i think its hard.

2)How is the mid comunity accepting newcommers to the realm. I dont see myself as a daoc noob, just a mid noob :)

Cheers!

You prefrebly need Catacombs to level these days, mythic made levelling easier, with instance dungeons, free levels etc etc. Groups are non exsistant especially below 20 to the /level 20 command. RvR has turned into stalemates at towers and bridges thanks to New Frontiers, or FOTM groups ruling the space inbetween.

Prywden and Excalibur servers are merging (clustering) soon, so its hard to tell wether this will improve things or just add to the problems of zerging albs at the moment.

Midgard is a friendly enough realm, lots of guilds still acceptign newcommers, still see a few sub 20 chars questing and levelling in aegir and classic too, Just daoc isnt like what it was 2 years ago, little things like porting from svasud to rvr waiting for the gothi, and all the crafters now gone out of aegir have muted the community ingame because alternatives have made it easier now to get around and you can craft from the housing zone etc, if someone wants a new toon now its off to Moderngrav to get one pl'd in 2/3 days.

My advice is if you can hack getting to 50 , then getting all your artifacts, and then doing ML's then yes come back, if PVE (which is all what WOW basically is) isnt your soup then hmm........

I've senn quite a few people beggining to play DAoC for their first time in mid or trying mid out for their first time and I don't see them having a hard time and suffering of the elitism later on in rvr. Xping can be hard when you only run classic since most other groups run in cata or si but then again there are also people as myself that almost only xp in classic mainland.

Alot of people in Midgard don't bother new players much while there is also alot that think it's fun with new players and help em out with xp and equipment. I think you should try it out, even just with classic to begin with, you can always contact me ingame and I help you for starters.

/Best regards Chorismo

What you could do when your bored with the PvE is to visit the battlegrounds everynow and then, theyve introduced them for all the levels now (not that theres much action in more then thid20-24, molvik 35-39 and leirvik 40-44). A guildie of mine did those lvlranges mostly through fighting in there and had lots of fun, its also a good way to get to know more ppl via the pick-ups that form on molvik and leirvik. good luck and welcome to midgard

Imo join a guild. I can recomend Realm Defenders, Nazgul, The Dark Alliance, FoM and ofc my own, but we are not that many atm but those of us thats active is very helpfull to our guild m8s. Nice ppl in all the above guilds.

1. No you do not NEED those, but they make life in DAoC a LOT easier.
2. If you are a nice person and don't beg or demand help you will see that ppl you play with is nice and helpful to you.
