A mother is suing a hotel claiming her teenage daughter fell pregnant simply from using a hotel swimming pool.

Magdalena Kwiatkowska says the 13-year-old conceived after coming into contact with 'stray sperm' in the water of an Egyptian resort.

She is demanding compensation.

'The mother is adamant that her daughter didn't meet any boys while she was there,' a travel industry source said.

'She is determined to go ahead with the case.'

The Polish tourist board has confirmed they have received a complaint from Mrs Kwiatkowska.

I don't believe I've ever said any such thing; my view is that the fears over anthropogenic climate change are very much exaggerated, and that there are much more practical ways to deal with any problems, should they exist, than simply taxing people.

Sperm needs the right temperature, outside the body it only 'lives' from anywhere between a few minutes and a couple of hours. In a warm pool, probably very little time at all.

Chlorine would probably kill it pretty quickly but after that it would need a temperature around room temp.

The big problem is the probabilities - a few ml of semen in a pool is going to be very dilute - then look at the low chances of making a women pregnant in ideal conditions and thats with hundreds of millions of sperm already in the vagina - the few sperm that may enter the vagina during a swim would be extremely unlikely to sucessfully reach and merge with an egg.

I'm in the "I havn't talked to anyone who I believe has crunched all the data and can tell me that they think and I believe them either way" camp.

That said it does seem that the massive amounts of shit we pump into the atmosphere/environment has to have _some_ effect and we probably shouldnt be doing it. ( eg large Hypoxic zones in the ocean/etc )

I was a volunteer for various wildlife charities like WWF when I was younger so I'm not some dyed in the wool texan oil baron or something I just dont find the arguements convincing and greatly dislike the 'if you dont believe in global warming you probably dont believe in the holocaust either' school of thought.
