Star Trek - Enterprise

I enjoy this new Star Trek Series. I like the lack of technology and how they deal with it.

I particularly like the fact that they are frightened of being beamed by Scotty!

I am not so keen on the Theme music though! It could have been a bit more Star Trekky.

If you want to have a look do a Kazaa search for 'enterprise alternate opening' and you'll find it.
Do this! The alternate music fits perfectly.

Wasn't as good as Star Trek II:The Wrath of Khan. The only decent one cos Kirk gets to play with all of those really big guns on the front of the Enterprise. Much better than Picard baldly going where no man has gone before and poncing around kissing everyone's arse.

True...many reckon that ST 2 was the best.

Hmm, I haven't seen II properly, will make a point of it though. But out of all the more "recent" star treks, first contact etc, IV is definately my favourite.

Woman: "Are you sure you wont change your mind?"
Spock: "Is there something wrong with the one I have?"

I like the fact that they don't have shields, they have ionised hull plating or something. Scott Bakula (who is captain Archer) played Sam Beckett in quantum leap which I loved.

I really hated Kirks crew, I thought first contact was the best ST movie, much darker than the others.

Note: I am not a trekkie!!!!

I saw Enterprize for the first time this week, I was impressed and liked the style of it all, however that "shower scene" was very disturbing, I can only suppose it was some kind of weird humor going on, the way they are rubbing each other up and talking shop all the time.

I rate Enterprize above ST:DS9 and ST:V for now, gotta wait and see how the rest of the episodes make out.

BTW, is the Doctor a Cardassian, must have missed a bit there ?

As for Trek II I thoroughly recommend watching it together with Trek III, and Trek IV if you can make it, I actually saw I thru IV in one go many years back, 9 hours of Trek !!!

Everything "Trek" that has ever come before has been total shit.

However, if this one has a bird soaping her naked body in it, it's already on the road to recovery.

Just saw the trailer to Trek 10, it seems to follow the general rule of thumb that all even numbered Trek films are better

II: Wrath of Khan
IV: Voyage Home (ok, thats debatable)
VI: Undiscovered Country
VIII: First Contact
X: Nemesis

Im wasnt too keen on Enterprise when I watched the majority on Sky One, but I am watching it again on C4 to see if I was wrong. The only problem is I keep waiting for Sam Beckett to leap out into another time frame, or call for assistance from Al or Ziggy.

I like it. It started off brilliantly, but then settled into a Next Gen sorta vibe.

T'Pol/Jolene Blalock is fucking gorgeous btw.

:)

Most Star Trek fans can the Voyager series, I thought it was alright.

TNG
Enterprise
Voyager
TOS
DS9

Didn't like DS9 at all.

Andrew Robinson is making a PA near me in just under a weeks time, so I'll be popping along to that, because Garak (AR's character), Odo and Quark were the only reasons for watching DS9 at all.

I thought DS9 was alright too but then again I'm not a die hard Trek fan like some of my mates, so perhaps I don't quiet mind changes.

I didn't dislike it because it was different from the other Treks, I just didn't like it much cos it was so bloody boring.

And Avery Brooks (Sisko) is a terrible actor.

Cardy's are a little more grey. He's not, he's um ... no wait, I know this one ... he's ... I dunno what he is, be aint one of them :(

It seems i'm also the one who liked Voyager the best here. Not so much early on but later it got a little darker moodier with more BORG and such like death and carnage left right and center.

Oh and an on going side story of the people from the future, which I thought was pretty good :)

I disagree ... I thought that when he was shouting and/or in "tense" situations he was quite intense. Although I could be mistaking that for the fact that he didn't breath between his sentences very often. But I thought he did ok.

Summo - That alternate start is actually music ripped from First Contact and stuck over the Intro, its mere coincidence that it fits pretty well.

DS9 was the best series for me as it had a brilliant story throughout the series, and it was the first Star Trek series I followed that got me into it all. This is what I like about Enterprise is that it has a big story behind it all, I look forward to finding out who the future guy actually is.

I've seen all the Series from TNG and onwards

Never seen the early films properly the first I saw was Generations and then all of them since at the cinama, the new film does look very nice

Anyway off to bed for meh :(

i loved DS9. much better than the soppy series that was TNG and the pure crapness that was voyager

always had something new and the wormgate wars were amazing. I was really sad when they announced the end of it.

and i diddnt like 7of9, she's too distant and acts like a twat in the series. probably why i dont "enjoy" voyagers as much ;)

edit:/ i have mixed feelings about the original star trek. there was nothing like coming home from school and going to sit in front of the set to watch the latest installment of kirk and spock. think they had some great stuff on it. overall i like it

DS9
original
Voyager
TNG

The thing to remember about the original StarTrek, is that it wasn't paticuarly popular at the time. That's why there's only around 3/4 series of it - It was killed due to poor viewing figures.

After StarWars hit it big at the cinema, they revived StarTrek in the form of a load of films, and proberbly started showing the series as well.

I'm not a huge fan of the original series, however i'd watch it if it was on. DS9 Was in some ways great, but in others poor. But the guy who played Sisco was a good actor imo... The way he played teh character was right for the head of a space station, however he wouldn't work right as a starship captain i don't think.

The idea of having a space station that doesn't move as the ship in the limelight, is cool because it means you can have a deeper plot, where one episode follows on from the next. However, it did get a bit boring at times.

Voyager owned... TNG Was good... I'm not going to put anything in any order. However from the 2 episodes i've seen, Enterprise will be dissapointing.

Oh, and anyone who says 7of9 is anything less than the most sexy woman to ever appear in a scifi series, is gay. :p

theme music for it fits perfectly i reckon. come on, rod stuart? innit?

damn good, its different and not copying or going along the same lines as the other star treks, which is cool.

and the theme music also reflect the setting...

"it's been a long road, getting from there to here, its been a long time.... etc etc, i will touch the sky.... etc etc, caus ive got strengh of the heart, faith to believe or somming... lalala"

but anyway, it fits with the way of how it was hard for the enterprise at first but they carried on regardless...

i watched the whole season, but towards the end it was getting boring. i like the premise of the series, the old style, and the idea of discovering a bit about star trek history. it also had some good individual scenes, but i think overall the plots lacked a bit.

it seemed like there was about 3 or 4 basic storylines used all season. although star trek is generally not famed for it's originality (how can it be with 25+ season though, really?), enterprise felt a little less varied. it's been a while since i've watched it, so maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think there was much character development either though, even in episodes that focused on one particular character you didn't seem to learn much about them.

saying that the one thing i do like about the series so far is all the action. although some of it is pure cheese (que last minute phase cannons), some scenes are superb, and as you might expect the computer graphics better than ever. although with them being the only starship in starfleet (i think) kind of limits the potential for the mass ship battles a la ds9, it certainly is showing some potential in that department.

i also just watched the trailer for star trek 10 (thanks ono) and i've gotta say i think it looks great. it seems a lot more mainstream, and although i'm a bit of a diehard, i think this looks like it could be a good thing. i'm certainly looking forward to going to see that.

It was originally Rod Stewart, yes. I actually prefer this one by Russell Watson to Rod's original. Get them from Kazaa and compare them.
