SA80 - aaawesomeee. Are they as redonkulously accurate as I've heard?

That's assuming that the sight doesn't break when you sneeze on it and give you lung cancer, or that the shite quality mags don't buckle and get jammed when you bump it (i speak from experience 10+ years ago with them, maybe they've improved?).

That said, they were bloody accurate for the frame.

Gave it a good kicking to free up the parts and started working fine. I guess that's what you get with a gun that has next to nothing inside.

Yup - the AK is another brilliant example of pure functionality. Left it in a barrel of low grade oil and mud as i recall.

Say what you like about the Russians - they do design some good kit.

Cheers for the replies, yea the room tends to be in rag order in the day - we get it squared for inspections but after the day's over it tends to instantly turn into a bombsight again

End of week four though! Next week is "hell week" - three endurance runs and an exercise, plus lots of other fun stuff thrown in no doubt

Finally got on the ranges this week! managed to get a few rounds down, it seems fairly accurate but the recoil takes a bit of getting used to! I managed to get a few nice scores, so I'm happy I'm in competition with some crazy guy for best shot in the section, I'll have to put bacon in the end of his rifle next time so I win

Great fun overall though!

I dont know if any of you lot listen to Vernon K on radio one, but if you were listening today you might have heard that we got a shout-out: one of our lads sent in a picture of a few of us wearing just beret's over our "other weapons" (ahem - long story! ), and our names actually got mentioned - hope the training staff weren't listening!

And no, I'm not posting the picture - not until I'm out of basic training atleast haha

All good here though, missing FH as always, but pew pewing and rolling around in the mud is keeping me busy enough for it to not be fatal... yet!

I survived hell week and all I got was this lousy... no wait, i didn't even get a lousy t-shirt!

Two long runs, both of which I ended up covered in so much mud I thought I'd have to stand under the shower for a week to get it all off! Then we had our first Exercise! Was fairly hard, I've had about 5 hours sleep in the last few days so I'll keep this one brief

All I'm going to say is sleeping with a rifle is like trying to sleep with victoria beckham or something, only with the occassional bang... ahem! Attacks all night last night though, had to get up for sentry duty at 2am till 3, then back up at 4 for a nice run!

Anyways, just wanted to let you lot know I'm still about - off on a field trip this weekend so hopefully a bit easier this weekend Have a good weekend everyone! moar pictars incoming soon hopefully for those interested - just remember, no photo shopping!
