Do you wish to mark Gator Add Corp(c) as a trusted source?")
I can honestly say I've never ticked that.
As a test goto the Gator homepage if the ads on the site appear it has reinstalled itself
Hah! You're trying to trick me into going back? Nice try, corporate lap-dog! If I ever find out where you live...

You might not have had to, if you installed something that is bundled with Gator it would have done it for you...

But if it's a program you install, then it has to warn you if it's going to slap some spyware on your system... Doesn't it? :eek6:

Yeah, yeah. Ad-aware removed it all.

PR - I run Ad-aware pretty often and can honestly say I've never installed anything with Gator written on it. Ever.

I had a clean system. I visit the Gator and GAIN websites, and afterwards I have 30 instances of Gator-installed spyware. No consultation with me, no 'click here to install...' or 'download meh!' links. Just visiting that site put that crap on my poota which caused adverts to pop-up.

Anyway...

While we're (almost) on the subject of popup ads, this one is quite impressive:

Check out the Internet Options -> Tools -> Content -> Certificates, I think you can remove them from there.

You can remove EZula instances from the Registry:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\EZulaBoot.InstallCtrl.1
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\EZulaBoot.InstallCtrl.1
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\EZulaBootExe.InstallCtrl
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\EZulaBootExe.InstallCtrl.1.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\AppID\eZulaBootExe.EXE
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\AppID\{C0335198-6755-11D4-8A73-0050DA2EE1BE}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\TypeLib\{3D7247D1-5DB8-11D4-8A72-0050DA2EE1BE}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\TypeLib\{C0335197-6755-11D4-8A73-0050DA2EE1BE}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution
Units\{3D7247DE-5DB8-11D4-8A72-0050DA2EE1BE}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ModuleUsage\
C:/WINDOWS/Downloaded Program Files/eZulaBoot.dll

And in
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Doc
Find Spec MRU you'll find an entry for EZulaboot.

And from your harddisk:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\InstallCtrl.class, which mentions
two files it depends on ezulaboot.dll and ezulaboot.inf.
C:\WINDOWS\eZulains.exe
C:\WINDOWS\APPLOG\ezulains.lgc

Make sure none of this is lying around as you have said that Gator is reinstalling, something must still be allowing free control on your system

Eh? It's not reinstalling. Ad-Aware removed it (including all registry entries) and that was the last of it.

Thanks for your efforts though, PR. You may now have 10 minutes out in the sun.

Callous - Mozilla runs a lot slower than IE. Mozzy doesn't seem to chache anything and downloads everything from the server each time I view a page. There may be options to switch this on/off but I haven't been bothered to look yet. :/

Have a look at this site if you want to remove all spyware from Kazaa - worked for me :)

Aye, my prickly-headed chum is right. Kazaa Lite is The One, despite the mis-spelling.

Surely its just best to use kazaa lite

Kazaa Lite has spyware as well, don't it - much reduced, but it still has Cydoor - that site gets rid of that too.

I was under the impression that it just had a 'dummy' version of Cydoor that didn't actually do anything except allow Kazaa to run...

Nope it has a 'dummy' file that tricks kazaa into thinking the spyware is there. The actual dummy file does nothing.

That's right. It has a false cydoor.dll file (or summat) but no SpyWare with Kazaa Lite.
