Spread some respect

If someone who doesn't play DAoC looks into this forum he would think that we are all a bunch of real pricks. Why? Cause we swear at each other, we accuse each other of cheating, we whine about each and every inbalance in the game. An outside would never expect that we playing the same game, TOGETHER.
We don't play together all the time since we are members of different realms, but we meet eachother on the rvr-battlefields. All of us spend hours, days, month ingame fighting each other. We are spending hours, days and even month together and still the only thing we can do is sweat at each other!!?! A bit sad, isn't it? What would Emain be like, without.. lets say Outlaws zerg? I spent weeks in emain just fighting him and his friend, sometimes we lost and sometimes we won. But it was FUN. Its a bloody game, and games should be fun. Without your enemies you wouldn't be able to have fun all (except you are a hardcore PvE player). So the last thing you could do is, to show a little respect for your opponents on those forums.
People use those boards to let of steam, thats it. Calling each others n00b, retard, ect. wont get you anywhere. Some people on those board seem to enjoy taunting those who are allready angry/down/pissed off. Grow up imo and show a little bit of respect to the people behind the chars.

Why am I posting that? After reading those bs swear/whine/ect post since the release of toa I thought I'd try to bring up a discussion about the behavior in here. A friend of mine read some posts while I was checking the forum and he was really shocked, he couldn't believe that we are playing the same together. He though I was reading some CS forum or something, that made me think...

It is much easier to write something bad to/about someone becouse you dont need to think what you write.
If you want to write something good you need to think a little while. You also have much higher motivation to get rid of your anger towards someone than the joy of something else.

I guess its a valid point about the wajn and radar-cheat accusing threads osv..

But thise forums are abit about letting out steam, I meen ppl being grappled/savaged/28buffz0red/dpsdebuffed or whatever dont like some perticular effect of the game and want to say its unfair in some way, thats what i think atleast.

Thise boards would probably be read less if there where no flames/wajns tho because they are entertaining to read, atleast from my pov.

Problem is a large percentage actually are real pricks, in game and in the forums, judging by the lame behaviour i've seen in both.

People only notice the nasty people more because they are often the loudest.

*sigh* thats exactly the attitude I'm talking about.
When his he worthy? If he beats you twice in a duel? If he doesn't abuse a bug? If he doesn't kill gray conns?

Think about those who help eachother doing some encounter together, you'll never know that cause you are maybe in a different realm. They are worthy imo. Think about those who don't play an overpowered class and still go rvr, maybe without toa template or proper SC stuff. They die and still come back, they are worthy. Imo everyone who plays fair is worthy.
I respect every fair player in the game. Without some proper enemies noone would play the game.

If someone is not worth, does that mean you can call him names here on the boards? Do you really know the person?

playin fair is a good start but if u dont play much enough nobody will remember that. Uve 2 play alot, uve 2 die alot, uve 2 kill some guys now and then. And after some time when ur opposites remember u its on them if they respect u or not.

actually i like the inter realm arguments/flaming after all we are supposed to be at war ~takes off role player hat~

i imagine a lot of the people that argue with each other may actually get on irl or if they were in the same realm. obviuosly there are some real dicks but there are in every community in real life or on the net.

people do lame things in game like zergng, adding etc but its nothing personal though it is very annoying when it happens to you.

people looking into daoc from the outside wouldnt understand thats true but its nothing like the flaming you get in other games ( counter strike, anyone? ) and tbh i really dont care what non daoc players think. daoc is pure escapism, as is any mmorpg and i think it proves how good the game is that it can bring out real emotions. when i turn my computer off i dont really think about it though, it doesnt keep me awake thinking how i am going to get back at the malmo vaktans that just stealth zerged me. i couldnt care less.

I agree with the topic. As for myself I respect all the enemies I fight, but some more then others. Like Alpha, Tailvar, Kagato, Zoia and many more. Because these are the kind of people that never gives up soloing even if you kill them they will come back, they won't head to FH just to make a whine thread about how the other class they lost to is overpowered.

Its not like you are out playing rugby or football where the variables for success and failure are much greater than spamming a couple of buttons on your keyboard as fast as u can. I can go play rugby, score 6 tries, kick 12 goals and my team win 80-0 but id still respect my opponent and in no circumstances would I then proceed to log onto that teams website and spam the forums with shite like "i r liiiiiiiit, u r teh suxxor" and other pre playschool language like that.

My guess is it's all about attention, as someone posted earlier they are the loudest. Everyone wants to be noticed and their name remembred, and some just are not to sure how to get that done i think. So... spamming a forum that most players read with rude and sarcastic remarks, each time pushing it more and more, well that's one way to get heard and noticed.
