Right, just finished this practically and I must say they ruined it something terrible.

Earlier stages of the game simply don't last long enough (the creature + tribe stages, they're the most fun parts of the game) AND the space stage is extremely boring after a few hours of play.

I kinda like it so far, "rerolled" a few times tho but think im sticking to my peace loving moose gryphons for now, my older sharkdragons were kinda war hungry and that ended up kicking me in the ass - apparently some nearby aliens had observed my actions during tribal & civ phase and decided that I was not to be trusted, and wiped out.

Terraforming planets is also alot of fun, and trying to establish ecosystems is hard, and very easy at the same time.

Another one of the cool features is running about in Creature Phase then encountering wild Moonkins, or robots, or "Charles Darwins" or this:

What really does annoy me however, is the constant pirateraids - you'd figure with turrets on every city they could handle it themselves, but apparently not.

Oh and I must mention that I loved every stage so far except Civ stage, it lost the touch with your own creation which imo is the very core mechanic of the game, I also disliked that evolution stopped after Creature Phase, kinda sucked after I spent extra time unlocking all parts

I advise anyone not to buy the game i can't even get it to start up!!

I start to run the game then i get a black screen as thought it's going to load then nothing it crashes my PC!!!!!!!!

So now i have 2 choices.

1. trawl the internet for days on end trying to fix it and have my PC crash every time i try and load it.

2. Let the game sit there and rot away.

Tried 4 sets of drivers now and tbh i can't be bothered restarting my pc everytime for the settings to take effect.

What version of Directx are you running?

I'm running DX10 on a 3870X2.

Really pissed tbh as you cannot return PC games anymore desperate to play it.

Just remembered something very similar my friend had with his PC in other games, codec issues. First thing that runs is the intro movie, which would have a codec driver conflict with the Asus Splendid/OSD thing crashing the PC. So if you have an Asus card try disabling those 2 and see if theres any difference, alternatively get the kazaa codec pack.

Don't have an ASUS card but my motherboard is ASUS.

It's definatly something to do with the graphics card as when i restart my PC that is what VISTA tells me is causing the error what is this kazza pac?>

I have just looked around apprently DX10 won't run Spore.

I need 9.0c.

Where do i download and install this i tried the MS site but it tells me that my system has the latest DX10 and won't do shit ;/

The kazaa codec pack is basically a collection of pretty much every movie codec ever, except realplayer & quicktime

You should be able to run it fine with DX10, gimme a sec I'll get out of bed and try boot mine from Vista to confirm(I usually play in XP because I only have 2gb ram).
