But ofcourse we don't HAVE to get artifacts and MLs, just as we didn't HAVE to buy SI... a load of Mythic BS if you ask me. Unless you prefer playing with a huge disadvantage from the moment you enter NF without artifacts and MLs and other TOA stuff (I'm not even talking about realmrank differences here), you have no choice at all. It's stupid saying you don't have to get TOAed cuz you do. Mythic made sure you do, else no one would spend insane amounts of time in that hell hole called TOA doing MLs and lvling artifacts. You do it because you need it to compete with the others. And newbie players will have to do them as well if they intend to rvr and not get steamrolled all the time.

you can still kill in crap gear not every enemy out thier is a 1337 kiddie who takes days of school just to get some new artifact or something, and people who spend loads of time doing all that stuff and not enjoying are what we call in the real world, sad and addicted in a bad way.

Highly untrue, if you play "twoll go bash" RvR then yes, but if you engage brain, use tactics and common sense then no.

My RR3 healer and RR2 shamman can do just as well in NF as anyone else, heck Ive seen level 4X players out there making more RPs than most 50s with no TOA, artis or MLs. This besides the fact that RvR is not the end game for everyone, and if any of the "im going to WoW" crowd dispute that, then when you get to this uber game, you wont have much of a choice, PvE or die, simple.

Theres more than one way to play DAoC, you have the PvE minions, the RvR whores, those who PL4tehwin and "none of the above, i just want to have fun". Tarring all DAoC players with one brush is wrong, everyone here plays a different game.

Then you are forgetting the battlegrounds, where RvR is the most balanced and equal in this game, hardly anyone can say they have advantages in anyway there which makes it a lot more fun. These now start at level 1, so even a potential RP whore can start young.

Yup your just about right with most of that and whats become tedious to the old players will be fresh for a new starter.However the lagspikes and unplayability of the zones would make me turnoff any game nvm DAOC.

Damn I'm doing something wrong then. I'd better stop having fun in RvR until I've done all of that. I must have missed the popup screen when porting to the frontiers that says you aren't allowed to enter unless you have ml10 and at least 3 artifacts at level 10 already.
Should I ask Goa to take all the RPs I've earnt back until then do you think?

This subject has been discussed over and over since ToA launch and it's all matter of opinion so better leave it... But personally I would feel badly cheated after reaching 50 for sure if I knew nothing about daoc beforehand, someone introduced it to me as a RvR game and told me that "doing ToA" is not necessary.

the GMs tend to run smaller events every 2 weeks (alternating realms) when it's not all hands on deck for the patching

wee wolves were scary, level 4 killing the nightspawn ghosts then a midgy wolf agro's and pwns you ahh my full spear/bs/sword spec hunter how i miss the days without the wolf insta create thinking a rock crab rocked for a pet

edit: also the days when you could be in a group killing oranges and loving the exp

I remember starting my first character, my warrior, and killing escaped thralls outside Vasudheim, and damn was i afraid of going inside the house they spawned in ^^ Or beeing scared to venture too far from the guard outside the village

ahhh i miss the screams of "BEETLE ZERG" and everyone being wiped out by groups of red and purple water beetles.

Or runing the wrong way and getting killed by grove nymphs (after i hit 50 i masacred the lot)

or before the damage add and damage shield nerf and a level 1 person with those two buffs could chain kill their way through red con mobs in 2 hits

ahhh memories

btw daocs still a fine game just take a step back once in a while and remember it is a game still

wel i think its a good idea, its got me a buffbot and my Girlfriend playing, so double bonus thanks to this.. it was the kick i needed to get those organised.. theres plenty of places to level in 7 days in the old lands... remember? we used to level there before SI and TOA?... i shal be dragging them both out to get them a few levels later... im glad GOA did this, its a much needed incentive...

I think youll find at the moment the US servers are a lag free haven compared to GOA's servers
