anyone noticing a lot of these coming indoors recently? ive had some massive ones in my bedroom and now im starting to get scared tbh :( one of them fell from somewhere a few weeks back and it was so big i heard it hit the floor, which got my attention. half a tin of lynx later and a shoe, the thing was dead.

they petrify me so much i freeze up if i go anywhere near them. hence the waste of lynx :(

damn eight legged bastards, they should all die. I had a huge one crawling up my arm while I was peeing the other day, it fell on the floor and went for my feet and as I was mid stream and bare foot I could kill it until I was done.
Theres one outside my door now so I'm not going to sleep until I've taped up the cracks in the door.

I had a dream someone served me a lasagne beautifully garnished with baked tarantula.

Just thought I'd share that.

if spiders were bright pink instead of striped or dark brown and green, i might not be so worried about them

The house that my parents are moving out of on the weekend is thatched. Every time I opened my window I would get a huge migration of various insect families coming in. There was one spider in my bathroom that I was particulary impressed by. It had built up a huge web all around the toilet and over the bath and had basically covered the entire room. It was awesome. I'll never get to see it again.

Spiders, though freaking weird, are Ok.

Its the flies and daddy long legs that annoy the hell out of me - least the spiders get 'em.. and then I can trap those with a glass and put them outside :)

Had a bat fly into my room (and then around it for a gazillion hours) the other night.. good times.

I really have a strong strong despise for spiders, the fucking things just wont leave me alone. The past month has been a real nightmare with them.

First, there was a huge bastard which ran under my feet while i was on the computer, to a point it made me shout out "Jesus Christ!" [And i never... blaspheme!] before it ended up going behind my TV.

Second one scared the daylights out of me too, i had just got out the shower, and putting on a fresh pair of socks when a spider fell out of them and landed on my leg. I *almost* started screaming like a little girl as it was running around my leg [While i was flapping at it]. That one vanished under my bed. Sigh.

The small spiders i dont mind, its them bastard Garden Spiders or spiders which are huge that do me, i blame two things for my irrational fear of spiders, one was watching Aracnaphobia about a million times. I have to check the shower cubicle God knows how many times because of that movie, and secondly im fairly sure my very earliest memory was actually when a huge spider was dangling above my head when i was about 4-5.

I dont like them :(. But since [when they dont harrass me] they take care of other insects im not fussed. As long as they keep the fuck away from me!

/edit OH PS: I wouldnt want to be walking through this Park on a dark night. Bastards!

NOOOOo theres a spider next to my bed now! crawling up the wall! shiiiit!

Just woke up. Went to make a cup of tea. Casually fill up the kettle and just happen to look down at the sink in front of me - mistake. It was the size of the palm of my hand.

:(

Go away spiders!

I don't mind them, never have. Big flies and daddy long legs that are hell bent on your personal destruction piss me off - like they have nothing better to do than dive bomb you constantly.

Spiders - I've spent over 15 years in a pair of cottages, one thatched, the other not, both well over 450 years old. Absolutely full to the brim. Some of those really big fat buggers too.
Besides which, the first flat I had in Northampton had a pair of young ladies upstairs who didn't like them much.
So much so, I often got a knock on the door "Nick, we've a HUGE spider in our bath"
Led to some good times :)

I live in quite an old flat so get them in all the time. Haven't killed one yet, as they're freakin awesome at killing all the other random bugs that seem to crawl in from under my bath. In fact one of them in the bathroom is my pet, but I haven't seen him in a while.

Spiders rock.

Yes there do seem to be more spiders about. I think with all the mildish weather and rain they have managed to breed bigger and more of them!

In SA I was just nicely falling asleep in bed when i heard this "plop". I wondered what it was so switched the light on to see this huge spider on my bed!! I have never jumped so fast and so far out of bed!! Got the bug spray out and nuked it...

strangely enough, though I have seen LOTS of them around, we haven't had any in our flat..but then again, we live on the 3rd floor so maybe its not that surprising as there is no vegetation anywhere near our windows. In the pub last night we opened the window next to the sofa we were sititng on as it was hot...promptly closed it again when we noticed a fatty green spider sitting on its web just outside!
Small spiders that aren;t too bulbous I can just about handle....anything bigger and I can't touch them, I have to either kill 'em or trap 'em. Vae is terrified of them, won;t even be in the same room if he sees one!

btw if you know anybody who's been to the middle east ask them about camel spiders. Part spider and part scorpion.

Spent 9 months on Island called Masirah off the coast of Oman. Playing golf (browns) one afternoon I needed a pee. Ran off to the club house dived into the small outside toilet on the side of the building. Turned the light on to see a Camel spider about 6-8" in length sitting in the sink facing me.

According some people close by I screamed like a girl and ran out at about 100 mph. So embarrassing but I hate spiders.

A few minutes later some mad Irish Armourer went in with a spray can of polish and a lighter to get rid of it. Looked alot less dangerous crispy.

They're fine, as long as they're not too big - if they are they go out the window, largely as their food supply won't be enough indoors - they need lots.

Moths are far worse. Incredibly irritating.

I'm going on holiday to Australia in a couple of weeks. For your enjoyment, I shall document my undoubtedly fearful encounters with the insect denizens there.

my gf wants me to swim the surf there. I haven't been able to swim in the sea properly since I was five and saw Jaws for the first time :/

anyway, I'm not particularly feart of anything unless it behaves aggressively towards me: a heavyweight sized spider on the wall means nothing to me, whereas the same sized spider trying to attack my foot will cause me to phase change :)

without spiders, we'd be buried in other bugs. for that, I love them. I do *not* love them if they're chewing on my foot.

Living in Britain and being afraid of spiders is pretty silly.

Living in Australia and being at least wary of spiders is pretty reasonable.

I was watching TV the other night and one gigantic spider ran across the living room carpet even my cat that was sat there at the time ran and hissed at it.

I couldn't sit and watch it anymore so i got my Dyson out and sucked it up where it got cycloned into a billion bits am sure i saw it splatter all over the plastic see through window on the front.
