Air - 'Moon Safari'; one of my favourites that isn't mentioned. Pretty definitive record for most things downtempo...

  • Four Tet - Pause
  • Amen - We Have Come For Your Parents

hmm I liked Iron Maiden was a was a young teen too but it kinda seems cheesey now :)

"I am he, the bornless one, that fallen angel watching you !"

"Babylon, the Scarlett Whore, I'll infiltrate you gratitide."

Or something like that (who remembers), it all seems a trifle cringeworthy now. Not that Slayer's lyrics were literary masterpieces but for some reason bands like Slayer don't make me cringe as badly as Iron Maiden. Probably cos noone could tell what Tom Araya was singing without a lyric sheet handy :)

Another reason was that back in my day the Thrash/Death Metal fans had proper long-all-round hair. Whereas the Maiden fans tended to have greasy Mullets. :/

Yes, my sweat-encrusted 'Eddie' T-shirts vanished long ago :D

Sounds currently whirring around my house:

Daft Punk's Homework.
Homework is as different from Discovery as Chalk is from cheese. Both are great, in their own way.

Plaid's Not For Threes and Rest Proof Clockwork
equally wonderful non-intrusive background music. If music were an addiction, be sure you'd be snorting these.

Led Zeppelin Four (Runes).
You don't have this? It ought to be etched on the brain of every living being. Its great, in a upsettingly dated way.

Pop Will Eat Itself's Two Fingers My Friends.
I won't even attempt to write anything worthwhile here, if you have the money spare; it must be purchased and cherished, if only for Ich Bin Ein Auslander.

How You Remind Me is a fantastic track. As is the live version of Outside by Staind, despite Fred Durst's attempts to screw it up.

Honestly, I've only listened to Left Behind a few times. I downloaded them (along with Linkin Park and Korn albums) because I got a new HDD :/

I also have to say, I've only heard of Mogwai, Amen, Sigur Ros and Aphex Twin in that list Wazz, and I thought I had a fuckload of musical knowledge ;( I shall check some out!

I really like Brown Paper Bag and I'm sure I've heard more of Roni Size's stuff. Must check more out. I also must buy Reign In Blood, have been meaning to do so for some time now, thanks!

All of these I shall check out. Haven't heard of Plaid, though. Led Zep, Daft Punk and Pop Will Eat Itself all rule.

Long post, and I bet no one read it all :)

Cheers for all the recommendations, have added quite a few to my basket on Amazon. I handed in my notice at work today too. Shit.

:D

I always preferred Led Zep 3 myself, its an album I still play today.
I went to see Iron Maiden when they was a support band, and they were cheesy then too .
Hey look, a music thread with something in it ive heard of, omg :)

No one ever mentions the Talking Heads any more, yet i thought they were great in their day.

Ah yes. The 5th. The eternal dichotomy in the first movement between tho motto representing fate and the horn call representing hope. As the horn call appears throughout the movement it becomes distorted to sound more and more like the motto. Clever chappie old Ludwig.
