SpeedFan?

Sometimes my CPU fan switches to 2000 rpm according to my temp reader. I don't know why, first i guessed it was when it became colder but today its been at 2700 rpm all day and 32'. So i downloaded SpeedFan so i manually could set it to 2000 and see if it worked. It worked alright! But another thing bothered me.
My temperature reading nr. 3. I have no idea what it is and its apparently dangerously hot? :p

In this SS you can see speedfan, core center and ati tools showing different temps. But the temp nr3 from speedfan doesn't seem to match anything? :(

Temperature readings from mobo sensors are not always accurate, or read accurately. For example, for my particular mobo, there is a list I have to input to offset the inaccuracies that come from the sensors.

So i shouldn't worry about temp3 in SpeedFan? Even tho it's on fire (! :p) 58 degrees doesn't sound a whole lot to me.

I didn't say that. You're going to have to look up your mobo with regard to speedfan and see what the correction may be.

Also there are a huge amount of monitoring tools available (some linked from here, just do a search), and I will almost guarantee they'll all give you a different reading.

I don't know what the hot thing is, or if it is really hot or not. It depends on Speedfan, what the app is looking at and what that thing is measuring. Too many factors, so, imo your best bet is the speedfan forums or some dedicated overclocking forum.

The hot temp could be your mobo chipset or your PSU or your graphics card (I suspect it's your gfx). Lots of mobos these days use "smartfan" or something which speeds up and slows down your cpu fan depending on what temp the cpu is at. It's the same with graphics cards.
edit: whoops forgot this: CPUID ... give it a go, speedfan isn't 100% (but nothing is, really) so another app may give more info.

I still don't know what it is. But these are the results with everest and cpuid HW. After playing X3 for 10 minutes

After about 20 min after installing Everest anad CPUID the temperature dropped dramatically. I guess it was some display error by speedfan, cause even after/during game the temp did not go above 39. Still don't know what temperature it is tho (my GPU temp is 48 according to ATI Tools so it's not that one).

58º for an ATI 1650 isnt that bad when gpu is in full mode gaming.
Is it a passive cooled card (i see in some benchs Fan #3 at 0rpms)? Is it the one with the stock cooler?
I've seen my 1950pro at 105º before sticking an Accelero S1 cooler on it (thx Sapphire for your crappy stock coolers)

Anywyas, i prefer ATI Tray Tools for managing any card. The temperature sensor uses to be more accurate, it can allow you to overclock and test the system stability and the fan controlling manager is rly pro.

I think the 58º is my "Aux". But for some reason it goes down to 39-40 as soon as i start Everest (and it matches the everest temp for 'Aux' after that). So i guess it's just bugged display. Everest confirms that my GPU temp is usually 48 after I've updated as well. None of my fan's are at 0rpm it's just that my old motherboard doesn't allow for much reading except the CPU/NP fan spots :p

I got powercolor 1650xt, rly sucky cooler on it aswell (Or well, maybe it cools well i dunno. But the sooooooooouuuuuuund :p). Bought and Zalman VF700 but it didn't fit even tho their homepage said it would :(

SO! Anyone know what "Aux" is? I read it usually is something like communications port? So i guess Southbridge ? :p
